Bovec is a busy town overun by tourists looking for outdoor activities such as biking, rafting, canyoning, etc. The town itself is not very interesting: a central area with restaurants, cafes, and bad shops. Otherwise it seems like every house rents rooms and apparements. Bovec makes for a convenient base, but don't expect much from the town itself.Guest review byFrequent Traveler 100United States - 10.0

My visit to Kobarid (Caporetto) was primarily to spend time in its superb war museum and the WWI open air museum on the Kolovrat 15 kms to the east. As mid-September is classed as 'out-of-season' getting to the latter proved difficult (no public transport out of season!) but with the kindness of strangers - the people of Kobarid - I was able to make it there. The scenery in this part of Slovenia is spectacularly beautiful, the people of Kobarid warm, helpful and friendly. I hope to go back some day.Guest review byPhilip MNetherlands - 10.0

Log pod Mangartom is an excellent base for all adrenaline activities. It’s a small place without nightlife, making it an ideal location for sports and outdoor enthusiasts. There are many foreigners, and it is filled with positive energy because the natural surroundings make you forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I recommend early morning walks as the freshness, scents, meadows, and mountains will leave you breathless with their beauty.Guest review byMarijaCroatia - 10.0

It's a great location if you are looking for a quiet place, the nearest city is Bovec which is relatively close by car. The view is beautiful and it's a great spot if you plan to hike in the area.Guest review byCsanádHungary - 10.0

The Soča River is as amazingly turquoise/clear as I had seen/read online! Whitewater rafted late April so got to do the upper section, passing the wide spot where the Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian bridge scene was filmed, jumping from a bridge and by a cascade, and seeing the gorgeous Slap Boka ("mouth" waterfall), which we hiked up after rafting to see from an astounding viewpoint overlooking the lower cascades and looking up at the powerful falls. Hope to return for the lower canyon some summer and/or kayak, canyon, ebike. etc. Tons to do!Guest review byAaronHungary - 8.0
Kobarid is great for hiking.
Kobarid is great for hiking. Unfortunately I was there when it was raining for days and didn't dare to do longer hikes. There is a great museum in town, but after having seen that, there's not much to do when the weather is bad. When the weather is nice, there are many great hiking routes from and to here, and buses also help you get back from Tolmin or Bovec. Unfortunately some other non-round hikes end in Magozd or Dreznica and there is no public transportation to get back to Kobarid. I would definitely recommend the town for 1-2 days to pass through, see the Napoleon bridge and Kozjak waterfall, and check the museum!Guest review byDóra - 4.0

No restaurants at all available (back in 2018 in Hotel Alpine there were awesome pizzeria), no shops - nearest is 12 km away in Bovec, church bells wake you up in 7 AM. Surrounding area is extraordinary beautiful, air is and water are first class.Guest review byZoran BabichCroatia - 8.0

Kobarid was an excellent base to see sites around the Soca valley. We particularly enjoyed the pass to Predil with its ruined fortresses, the Boka waterfall, the WW1 museum, the Italian mausoleum, and the trench lines at Kolovrat.Guest review byDave Cleveland
