A city full of culture and charm. So many interesting things to see, do and experience. The only thing that was a bummer for me was that I arrived on Sunday and most of the shops, cafes and restaurants were closed by 8. Very nice historic town by the lake and river.
Very nice historic town by the lake and river. You have to see is the castle and its museums. You definitely should enjoy the breathtaking view of the surroundings. The Kurentova hiša museum in the city center is also great. We appreciated the nice interpretation of the guide who introduced us to an interesting local custom. I recommend eating at the fish restaurant Gostilna Ribič or at the restaurant Gostilna Amadeus. If someone likes ice cream, then I recommend Sladoled Deti at Slomškova street 14 where you can get a huge cone of great ice cream for 1.8 euros.Guest review byLudmilaCzech Republic - 10.0

Really I didn't see much of the town as our purpose of travelling was to ki in Rogla, aproximatelly 25-30 kms away from our accomodation. The hotel we stayed is not in the town but in a nearby village by the road and close to highway. By car it take only a few minutes to go to Slovenska Bistrica where you can find a shopping certre with quite a lot of stores. Slovenska Bistrica is fairly close to Maribor City, the second largest city in Slovenia. Pretty decent apartmans really close to bike park trails starting points, like couple hundred meters, so perfect for MTBers visiting bike park. Also, all facillity worked properly and we had 2 huge beds. Comfort was on the proper level. We even had terracw on which we could go smoke or just chill after long day of biking. Pernica is a quiet spot, nice for long walks in the countryside. Many sightseeing options 10-40 minutes away. Maribor is very close and the city is amazing for family - great playground in the park, for walks in the wineyards or along the river. And the city centre is georgeous. Small city with good wine, coffee and food. Prices are low compared to western europe but higher than the rest of the slavic world. There's not a huge amount to do but it's well-connected to Ljubljana and the Austrian border. Would recommend coming here in the summer-time. There are also fewer hostel options for those backpacking, the market is more geared towards hotel stays. The real way to see Slovenia is outside of the cities and in the mountains and forests, and Maribor is close to all of these, especially Pohorje.Guest review byJoshUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I loved it! The town has a very good vibe. Despite the old town not being very full of people, it is pretty amazing. We had the opportunity to have a tour guide, whom I highly recommend. She shared many interesting and funny facts or legends about this beautiful place. We stayed just for two nights, but next time I would love to take a bike trip around, visit the castle, and enjoy the spirit in the Music Cafe or the town cinema (the oldest cinema in Slovenia. :)Guest review byLuciaSlovakia - 10.0

Nice slopes for both kids and more advanced skiers. Ski lifts work impeccably as well as gondola. Nice terrace of the bar in hotel Bellevue, understaffed but great location to join with non-skiing friends. Access to ski slopes is terrible if coming without car as hotel Bellevue is undergoing a renovation, so there is an entire construction site just before the slopes and it's muddy and for sure not pretty.Guest review bySanja, Zg, HrCroatia - 10.0
