Orcas Island is less populated and less busy than San Juan...
Orcas Island is less populated and less busy than San Juan Island and it has 2 great mountain hiking areas. Eastsound is the main village and has a gas station, supermarket, coffee shops and excellent bakery. You can walk alla round Eastsound, but definitely need a car to see the island.Guest review byjoelUnited States - 10.0

Orcas has a unique and special energy compared to San Juan Island (we only went to Orcas and San Juan Islands on this trip). It was peaceful, beautiful, zen, quaint, etc...everyone we met was friendly and accommodating. We wish we would have stayed longer! Eastsound was where we hung out the most for going out to eat/shopping...lot's of cute little towns and viewpoints, Obstruction Pass was a favorite as well as Olga with a cute little shop that had espresso and soft serve.Guest review byLindaUnited States - 4.0
Loved the island. Loved the restaurant and games outside.
Loved the island. Loved the restaurant and games outside. The porch was pleasant to sit in the evening. Hiked Turtlehead, tough but good. Drove to the other side of the island a lot. The ferry was challaging. The lodge was not worth the money unfortunately .Guest review byCathyUnited States - 10.0

We spent our town time in Eastsound, which is the only "town" on the island. Great restaurants and fun shops. Good hiking in the area. Mt. Constitution has a fantastic view and I would highly recommend hiking in the Turtleback Preserve. That area is more open, with better views and more diversity of habitat than the old growth forests at Moran State Park.Guest review byNeilUnited States - 10.0
Eastsound was wonderful!
Eastsound was wonderful! Would definatley recommend the Lone Pine Larder! One of the most delicious bites from the whole weekend. Didn't get a chance to visit Houlme but their pizza looked divine. Brown bear baking was the elite coffee and pastry choice, and I'd recommend getting ice cream from clever cow creamery and wine from Doe Bay Wine. The Orcas Island Historical Museum was fun as well! There's some great places outside of town as well but those were my most favorite spots in Eastsound.Guest review byJessicaUnited States - 10.0
There is so much to do on Orcas island.
There is so much to do on Orcas island. The shops in the main down-town hub and all the restaurants are great. The beaches and parks including Moran State Park and the look-out on Mount Constitution are a must-see! We booked a home near the ferry dock. If I had more time, I would have walked on a ferry to explore another island such as Friday Harbor on San Juan island. It was easy to "decompress" from city life when on the island. The vibe of small town friendliness was definitely there! We traveled during non-peak season so perhaps that helped us feel relaxed and enjoy our time.Guest review byB - 10.0
Beautiful little village with cute shops, beautiful setting...
Beautiful little village with cute shops, beautiful setting on water, flowers galore, lots of eateries— bakeries, lunch & breakfast, outdoor, fish & even Mexican—all delicious. Water and forest trails to explore. Do drive up to Constitution Mountain in Moran Park. Warning: remember to make ferry reservations early.Guest review byCharlesUnited States - 6.0
I booked this lousy unfinished noisy parking lot view room...
I booked this lousy unfinished noisy parking lot view room one year ago. There were lovely refinished 3 person rooms with great views in this hotel that we could have had easily from my view. I went and looked at them during my stay and no guests were there. The construction crew got better rooms which is nice of you to do, but not at the detriment to guests. I would advise to call the place yourselves to see what you are getting into. I could have booked two rooms or as one staff suggested put my special needs adult son on a mattress on the floor. I hate to give bad reviews, but don’t put me in this position. I am not going to be forceful and be hard on the staff because I told them and just don’t want to make a scene.Guest review byAnonymous
