Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel should not be advertised as a 4 star hotel and someone needs to verify their credentials. The hotel itself is sharing a building/ main entrance with a fitness center and a venue hall. The reception is on the first floor where you have to take a lift (the lift looks and feels like a service lift, scratched, banged up, awful unwelcoming materials and design) and the lift you have to wait awhile especially if there’s an event as you have to share the lift with the rest of the building. The reception is a shared very small room with the bar, breakfast and lounge. I had to check in myself with a tablet at the bar. The breakfast is very sad and offers very small options (nothing a la carte, all buffet) and felt like they were just cold cuts bought from the market next door. The hallways are fully black which don’t feel like a hotel hallway, they are very ominous and unwelcoming, and there is a random vending machine and ironing board on the hallway. The room itself is minuscule, and it doesn’t even have a wardrobe, it came with 4 hangers on a wall. The room itself has no amenities, i’ve never been in a “4 star” hotel which doesn’t provide ear picks or some toiletries or at least slippers for the room. The toilet itself and shower are not properly sealed so the water from the shower could reach the bed and the smell after going to the toilet would instantly fill the room. This made me and my partner feel quite awful as it was our anniversary too so we didn’t expect this from a “4 star” hotel. On top of this the flooring looked beat up, scratched and peeling everywhere and it squeaked. Whenever someone would close their doors, we could not only hear it but feel it in the bed frame, so when someone would come back late at night or leave early in the morning it would wake us up. One of the nights there was also an event which lasted until 1am in the morning and we couldn’t sleep as it was very loud. The overall experience was teribile and ruined our trip.
The location was ok, not ideal though.

United StatesWas dirty and dated. Tons of scruff marks and dust in corners. I didn’t feel very comfortable and immediately wanted to deadbolt the door shut. Hotel was probably really nice a few years ago but needs a serious facelift

AustraliaGround floor foyer was awful and didn’t make a good first impression. Rooms were very weird, sink in the entry way, shower fixture was awful and did not work properly, and left a floor full of water on the toilet floor. Bar advertised they did pizza but nothing available.
Great location, staff were nice, and well priced. Paid for what we got. Marshall speakers were cool.

SpainThe hotel looked good and it was clean with a modern concept, BUT I did my booking via Booking.com while not taking breakfast. I wanted to add the breakfast afterward and spoke with the staff, they were extremely unhelpful. I did the reservation for a group of 8 people and didnt pay little. On the other occasion I asked another thing for my guests, it was not possible. I booked a taxi via the reception for the early morning, the taxi didn't appear and my guests were almost late as they had to organise another thing. Finally I asked the hotel staff for the invoice for all the guests I paid for in advance via email, they answered me days later saying they had just saw the email now and that would not be possible. They did not even answer my last email and I stayed without the invoice which costs me now a lot of trouble to refund the payment for 8 people. All in all, fine place but horrible service and friendship policy.

United StatesNo complaints but keep in mind that a boutique hotel does not normally offer a gym or pool (although a commercial fitness center shares the building with the hotel). No banquet or business facilities fitting the Ruby Sophie's intimate nature. Wifi is powerful, fast, and free. The hotel is "cashless" which makes check-in and checkout (the latter is walkout) easier than I've every experienced
I liked everything. The Ruby Sophie is a boutique in a chain, but there is no evidence of a big chain. Instead a small staff of 30-somethings (a few are even younger) give the hotel a vibe to match its unusual and eclectic decor. If you like there is a guitar available if you play. No restaurant but a copious breakfast at small tables tucked into nooks and crannies along the length of the long bar that defines the ground floor. There is even a balcony for alfresco dining in a Viennese November. The cheerful professionalism of the staff is contagious particularly on dank early winter Viennese mornings. The setting is the old diplomatic quarter of Vienna, an Indian and a Korean restaurant are a short walk with many choices beyond. Central Vienna is nearby but the setting is quiet. During my four day stay I heard and saw repeated examples of a staff that is knowledgeable and helpful to gusts and is consistently upbeat. The staff and the distinctively quaint setting are an unusual match. And yes the place is made for a romantic getaway as well.; there were many couples to underline that choice.

AustriaThe rooms are kind of small (very exposed shower) but all in all nothing really to be negative about.
The location is absolutely fantastic, there's many great cafes and stores nearby. The room itself, while yes it is small, is great. There's a good sounding Bluetooth speaker that lets you tune the bass/treble easily, shower was clean and worked great. Toilet was also super clean.

United KingdomI arrived late at night and got a bit confused about how to find the reception as I hadn't realised the hotel was connected to a shared area with a gym. I walked past the hotel thinking that there would be a separate door for hotel guests only. I probably would have noticed the signs if it hadn't been so late and dark.
I loved the room. It was a perfect size for me. The guitar amp in my room was a nice surprise and I enjoyed picking a free guitar from reception and taking it back to my room to play. There was also two roof terraces on my floor which were sun traps. The staff were so lovely and went out of their way to take care of me when I wasn't feeling well. The three girls were very kind and made me feel reassured as a solo traveller that I was not alone. I would love to say a big thank you to them and wish I could remember their names. I would definitely return to this hotel.
