How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The location is very convenient and in a tourist friendly area. The host is very nice the bedroom was clean, cosy and comfortable.

the only set back is no fridge and no aircon.
The room is located at the next building which required climbing the metal stairs. view from room is great. we are able to see the mountain view. Hotel owner is very kind to help us with carrying the luggage to our room. Breakfast is great and nice!

Felt a little bit old/dated, but this isn’t a problem and actually gave the hotel character :)
Excellent location right in the centre of Grindelwald. Friendly and helpful staff. We arrived in 2 cars and were able to park right in front of the hotel which was great for peace of mind. However, there aren’t many spaces so if the hotel is busy then this might not be possible. Nice breakfast too. The Swiss chalet building has lots of character. It was clean and comfortable.

However, the bathroom shower needs some improvement. You have to stand inside the bathtub to shower, and the drainage is quite slow—water pools throughout the entire shower, leaving your feet submerged in used water. It would be much better if the hotel could either replace the bathtub with a walk-in shower or upgrade the drainage system for faster water removal.
I had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was extremely convenient. Breakfast was excellent, and all of the staff were friendly and attentive. A special thank-you to Christoph at reception, who kindly carried my luggage up to the second floor at check-in and back down at checkout—especially appreciated since there’s no elevator. Highly recommended!

The hotel is in a very convenient location, an easy walk from the train. It also very easy to access the busses, First station etc... Room was very comfortable with a great view of the mountains. It was very enjoyable on the balcony in the evening watching the sun go down. The staff were friendly and could not do more to help you enjoy your stay! Breakfast was delicious! Hope to visit again soon!

Perfect location, close to the train station, restaurants, and shops. Parking is available on the property. Our room for four was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good. Great hosts

Great location right in town, easy walk with luggage from.the train. Also a short walk to first station and activity's. Rooms were cosy and had a brilliant view of the mountains. Balcony was a lovely treat to unwind and enjoy the views. Staff were so lovely! Breakfast was delicious and so much food! Will be back one day!

No refrigerator & impossible to buy ice. Christof kindly helped us with our bags as there was no lift. Scrambled eggs some days would have been great.

No refrigerator. Booking was with queen bed for a couple, we get double bed with 2 mattresses very thin and separate easily, not convenient. Very modest breakfast: no omelette. Sugar overload jams. You sit on place the staff decide.
Location is super. Shops and viable area. Take a room with balcony. The view to mountains is best you could get ever in a trip. Staff very friendly. Fresh air rooms. Clean. Parking place for free.

-Breakfast could have been less formal & open buffet, instead of preparing a pre-set plate. I didn’t eat some portion of it and I was worried that it will be wasted. -There was some machine noise coming from somewhere behind the wall of the single room I was staying at.
Simple, reasonably priced, with very kind staff. Anything you need in a ski trip.

The mattress in my room was hot and I did not find it very comfortable. This is a small hotel so it does not have public areas to sit but it is in the centre of Grindelwald so there are plenty of facilities nearby.
The view from the balcony of my room was fantastic. It was south facing and quiet, away from the road, so a sunny spot to relax. The manager was welcoming and helpful and the breakfasts were good. There was also a kettle in the room. The free bus card to use in the local area was a bonus.
