Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Location on top of the hill, with a nice view from the balcony and eating area. Good breakfast. Easy access to the falls. Very quiet.

United KingdomThe water in the 1st room we were offered only came out extremely hot and could not be adjusted. I had assumed the pool would be larger. It was not big enough to swim in.
Breakfast was excellent; every day something different. I loved the fresh fruit. The muesli was nice but a little burnt. The hanging bridge was fun and great to have a short cut into town.

Excellent big room in montezuma. A bit off the centre but in a very scenic location. I loved the hanging bridge and also the patio for the breakfast.

Costa RicaThe floor boards were warped because they had obviously had previous water damage; we had to cover a protruding board with a rug to prevent from tripping over it. There was some minor repair work being done a little early in the morning, but nothing terrible. But these were minor issues compared to our wonderful time there.
The room was spacious and equipped with the essentials. Everything was clean. The view from our balcony was very nice. The pool is a little small, but sufficient for a quick cool off. The breakfast was very good! Got quick answers to all of my questions.

CanadaIt’s really hard to find any fault with this property. Walking up the hill from town is pretty strenuous the first few times you do it but if you’re in shape it’s ok. As long as you plan for the hill or have a car you’ll be ok.
The staff are lovely! The location is absolutely perfect for accessing the best waterfall pool. Breakfast was delicious. Loved the suspension bridge.

CanadaThe property was under construction due to a recent slide, which is obviously unavoidable, but they started work really early each morning so it was very noisy most of the day. We were not informed us this prior to our stay nor we were given a discount for our stay during construction, i feel given the noise and daily construction it kept a lot of animals we would have normally seen away. The apartment had ants.. a lot of them. One of our air-conditioning units had a constant drip while being used so we had to keep a pot from the kitchen under it the entire stay and empty it frequently. The bed in the second bedroom was so squeaky and loud. Showers were never hot or even warm. You had hot water during mid day but during the evening when you just want a nice warm shower hot water was no where to be seen.
There was 4 of us so we rented the apartment as it had two bedrooms and a living room. It had amazing views and we got to see a monkey each morning. Breakfast was included and was made personally each morning upon arrival to the balcony, which also had a stunning view. I didn't get the name of the woman who made us Breakfast each morning but she was absolutely wonderful. This property is at the top of a very steep hill, unless you are quite fit walking it isn't really an option, quads are available for rental in town and a lot of people took that option. We had rented a car for this vacation so we were fine, just note roads are windy and narrow in Costa Rica! My favorite part of the stay was the waterfall that is a 5 minute trail walk away. The waterfall was stunning and we lounged in the waterfall pools almost daily while we were there. The trail usually costs money to use l, but staying at the hotel it's free.

United StatesUnfortunately, the location is really steep. It is mentioned in the description of the hotel, but is even more difficult than I imagined. Only with a lot of help could I access our apartment, and then I did not leave it until we checked out. Also, a lot of construction was going on in the vicinity of the hotel.
The staff was wonderful. They did everything possible to make me (83years old) comfortable. Breakfast was brought to our apartment as I was not able to access the breakfast area. This is a great place if you are young and agile. If not, stay somewhere else. I was also heppy that we were only charged for the one night that we stayed, and that the staff found another place for us.

Costa RicaI've been here before but it's under new management so I guess things are just being figured out. Not enough towels for guests, I could tell some infrastructure needed improvement, a/c had to be fixed along with the door lock when arriving, decor is outdated and I personally didn't mind but staff and kids live there so it felt more like apartments than a hotel. Nonetheless it has so much potential and wish new management the very best :)
Breakfast and coffee were delicious! Pool was clean, staff was very polite, they have trails and a hanging bridge in the property that I enjoyed very much.

Costa RicaThe pool is pretty and the view is lovely, but the pool is small. It needs maintenance. Tiles were falling off into the water. Pool furniture needs replacing. Rooms are in need of updating. Bed comfy. Overall, good value for the $.
The view in our room. Fantastic. The breakfast area is elevated and has a lovely view. Breakfast by Lily is wonderful. Thank you, Lily. She’s always around.

LithuaniaIt is difficult to rate this place. It is a beautiful property, however with the huge and very important disadvantage, which I wanted to point out - the staff, which is making this place so cold and abundant. It is not about that they do not speak english, this can be acceptable, if you see the efforts to communicate and the smile. In this place - very sadly - it was not the case. Moreover, there were two many mistakes made: 1) I had interest in morning yoga and this was confirmed for me. As a result – we staid in the hotel, waiting for the youga and there was no yoga class in the morning (and actually noone in the reception to give some information). 2) They asked about my allergies upon arrival (for the breakfast), and I have pointed out the alergy for eggs. Guess what? Yes, I get the eggs for breakfast. 3) The nice book, written by the owner (which you probably find in every room, with a note that you can buy the book at the reception). And .... we asked 3 different times, 3 different receptionist, no one new the price and no one even tried to do something to get to know it or otherwise solve the issue. So, this is more a message to the owner: please take your close look to the staff and make this place breefing with life again! It is worth it! Now it is a feeling of being abundant, almost dead. And that is so sad!
The place is nice. You can reach the waterfalls, directly from it (~ 10 min). It has a nice hanging bridge and a wonderful view to the sunset and the sea. Quite far to the beach, but has a small and nice pool to refresh. Very nice place where you take breakfast (included in the room price). You can walk down to the city or take a car, as walking might be quite hot and not so pleasant, as you go on the road.

United KingdomThis was one of the more expensive stops on our Costa Rica trip, so a simple daily clean and emptying of bins would have been an improvement.
We had a great stay. The view from the room and access to the waterfall were real highlights. Breakfast was prepared and served with a smile by Emma (she is a huge asset to the business, and will go far!) and Yevil gave us great tips for getting out and about. The bridge is good fun, and necessary to shorten the walk up the hill! There are animals all around and it was just right for a three night stay.

United StatesWe had a car, and it helped that the staff sent us directions even with gps to find it. But looks like would be a challenging uphill walk from town if you didn’t have a car. And know that there’s some up and down steps to get around the property. Don’t stay there if you have accessibility issues.
A really nice, low-key vibe, pretty view of ocean from our room. They put a pitcher of water in the room fridge each day. Breakfast was nice, different each day. Recommend the place.

United KingdomThe set breakfast is a little restrictive and even though a substitution is offered the member of staff serving it is a little grumpy!
Lovely full height windows from the room with a view over the pacific. Expect inquisitive monkeys on the balcony! The view of the wildlife from the breakfast terrace is great. The short walk downhill to the nearby waterfall is recommended. The hotel pool is small but good for a cool off. The nearby brewery is great for beers, cocktails and food. It's a steep walk down into the town but the rope bridge is fun to do. (The taxi back is pricey!)

IsraelYou should know that it's on the side of a very steep hill. We knew that when we booked and we managed it every day when we went to town. That said, it IS very difficult, so if you think you don't have at least moderate fitness, maybe look at other accomodations. It's about 15 mins from town walking, 5 of which is a very steep walk up a hill on the road. The road is mostly lit though which is good. Another problem is that it seems navigation won't get you to the right place as the road to hotel is unmarked. We used Waze, not sure if it's marked in an another app. The hotel should at the very least send directions that are easy to follow to find the place.
The room was clean and the shower was hot. There is AC. The view from the place is amazing, and especially the view of the stars at night from the bridge. The staff is helpful and very friendly. The breakfast is pretty good.

United StatesA little tricky finding the hotel at night, and figuring out where to go in the dark. Fortunately the night guard came out to help. The couple did not speak English so we were a little confused but they got us where we needed to be. We enjoyed the vertical layout, and steep access but it would be rough for anyone with limited mobility.
Gorgeous setting, helpful host & staff, friendly, relaxed. Stunning breakfast patio overlooking ocean & jungle. Woke to birds, monkeys, and a very bright sunrise each morning. Access is a challenge, but the views are amazing. We did not walk to town because of the incline. It’s less than a mile, but very, very steep.
