Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandNeeds better signage to find main entry. Street view it looks like an abandoned mall
Lovely staff, with fully equiped kitchen and great atmosphere. Even in the 18 bed dorm it was reasonably quiet. Facilities and dorms were all very clean and tidy

Switzerland...but some other staff members weren't very friendly or keen to help. The communication between the various staff seems very lacking. I had requested a lower bunk bed much before my travel, which was accepted, but while checking-in it was a top bunk bed... When I told the staff who was checking me in, she shrugged and said "it's a busy period". Thankfully I later explained it to another staff person who immediately helped me switch beds. The kitchen has only few utilities for the large number of guests, and tends to be very messy depending on the guests. The baking oven was very poorly kept, and even turned my clothes smoky when I tried to use it... But keeping in mind the budget and great value for money, I guess these are nitpicks in the larger scheme of things.
Extremely good value, budget wise Good and rather comfortable amenities Mostly clean premises Plenty of showers and toilets available Kitchen at disposal Location was quite convenient, only 15 minutes walking/5 minutes ride from the Split Riva area Supermarket right next to the hostel Some of the staff members were quite nice...

CroatiaI had a late check-in ans they forgot to send me a code for front door to an email but I managed.
The "pad" like beds with curtains give you as much privacy as you can have in a hostel. There is a vending machine The bed seemed clean.

United KingdomOnly thing can say here is the first impression of the area due to building works… but if you can accept this, it’s no issue!
Clean, fun, quiet at night, nice that showers are separate to the bedrooms so can shower late/early and not disturb others. Slightly weird location due to building works, but looks like gonna be really nice area when done. Shop for drinks/snacks literally 1min walk round corner. Old town 10min walk and beach 10min walk. Can’t go wrong booking this place!

AustraliaNo washing machine or any way to do laundry on the premises. Nearby places are a rip off to do laundry costing $15 Euro. Entrance is a bit hard to find, needs better signage. But if you're coming from the airport shuttle bus/bus station/train station/ferry terminal, just turn right and follow the street when you get to the graffiti cement stair looking mess with temporary fences everywhere, and walk past Moon Bar, and turn left where the convenience store entrance is, and continue straight up a curved path that wraps around a building (that building is the hostel), you'll see some stairs, proceed up them.
Easily the best backpacker hostel I've stayed at for a fair while. Dorm bed was comfortable, also has privacy since it has a curtain that encloses the sleeper into their personal space. Good free wi-fi. Right next door to a chemist, convenience store, bakery, a good restaurant called Plan B is about 30 seconds walk in the other direction. Showers were great, there's plenty of them, as is the case with toilets. You get an assigned locker in the dorm room (enter dorm room with a code, as you do the front door to the hostel), the locker is big enough to fit your main backpack as well day, and also has a shelf to put some groceries or whatever you've taken out of your bag. You get use of a towel however it's a hand towel. But that's all you need.

Singapore- the shower stalls had nothing for you to hang your stuff. You basically have to leave your clothes and towel on top of door or hang them on the door handle outside. Also, no shelf/tray to put yoir toiletries when showering. - it's a pretty long walk (25mins) from the bus terminal, with the last 15mins being uphill. - the kitchen is locked from 10pm-7 or 8am which I find very odd. So it means if you need to leave early, you are unable to prepare your meals beforehand. I had to pack my lunch the night before as I had a 7am bus the next day. Hope the hostel can reconsider this rule.
- friendly and helpful volunteer staff who made me feel welcome :) - friendly and welcoming vibe - kitchen is well equipped - it was considerably clean in kitchen and ladies toilet considering how crowded it was - there are hairdryers for use - female dorm room was big and spacious (with clothes rack & hangers, small table with chairs) although there were many beds in the room - big supermarket round the corner

SlovakiaFind a way to get inside the hostel. No place for smokers.
Very modern, well designed hostel.Room was absolutely huge and bunk beds comfy and very private. In room was so quiet at night.Doors and walls soundproof, which I appreciated The atmosphere was friendly with many young travellers.Even I like the whole hostel and how clean and comfortable it was I realize I prefer smaller hostels. You will get towel but no shower gel are provided. Only one thing- outside of the hostel is construction site, and its quite hard to figure it out how to get inside of the hostel. There are no arrows either signs to follow. As I noticed I was not the only one who had a hard time to get in... especially at night..There are no ashtrays outside or any place for smokers.!Inside of the hostels is pretty but outside is forgotten.
