Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe staff at our arrival was not friendly, and the night after she made us wait like 10 minutes before telling us the bar was closed. She was just chatting with her friends and clearly noticed we were here waiting. The equipment is not what we expected at this price. Just a bed and a plastic chair. Nowhere to put stuff: no shelf, no little table. The bathroom was like a swimming pool bathroom where you have to press a button for water every 10 seconds, and no water pressure.
Awesome area, super close to everything.

United StatesSmall room, basic continental breakfast includes toast and cereal (I wish they had non-dairy milk for the cereal). Also wish they left the kitchen unlocked so we could grab our leftovers anytime rather than not being able to get them between 11pm-7am (an issue of switching time zones significantly and being hungry at the wrong times of day) - looking back, we should have gotten some sealed snacks that didn't need to be refrigerated kept in our room. Warning, it's noisier than most hostels: live music every night which is great, but don't stay here if Cork is your first stop from an international flight and you expect to have jet lag - music from the bar reverberated through our room making it impossible to fall asleep even with earplugs. Thought it was going to be acoustic music, not bass blasting through the walls and making the bed vibrate. Thursday music went until 11pm, which was fine, but Friday it went until 12:30am (even though the bar was supposed to close at 12am) and was much louder. About half an hour after the music stopped, a building's alarm went off on the street for the rest of the night until past 6am, which could be heard through the single-paned window. It's just an old building, so the insulation from noise isn't good.
Clean room & bedding, firm mattresses, towels provided in the private double room, hot shower with good water pressure, warm room, quick check-in process, excellent wi-fi, lovely staff. Perfect location near the bus station, bus stops, and train station. Good hostel if looking for a lively nightlife scene. Saw reviews with complaints about the outside lights, but our shade covered the window fine. Just bring an eye mask. And saw complaints of lack of a fan, we just opened our window to air out the space and that worked fine.

UkraineMixed dorms don’t have any curtains on beds, there is no elevator and the shower has only one button: on. So you can’t control duration and temperature of the shower. You have to click on the button many times until the hot water starts and it’s very hot then. Towels provided for rent, hairdryer is not in the room
Super good location, very helpful and friendly staff, great kitchen will a lot of space and all needed kitchenware, quiet space for work and also a bar with live music downstairs

FranceWasteful water faucet in sink yet the shower required you to repeatedly press the button for water. Kitchen and lounge lighting was soooo bad I couldn't eat or prepare food there. Breakfast was very limited. Nothing of use for me there. Not even fruit. Seemed overly expensive for a single room in a hostel.
Room was basic but functional. Nice and helpful staff. Quiet despite music in the bar. Great location.

ItalyBeds are not so comfy. Bedsheets are old and not white. Had to leave a deposit of 10€ for each room key which summed up quickly for a group of 12 people. No elevator, so could be challenging to get to your room with your luggage if you're out of shape. Doors smash really louldly throughout the night, ear plugs are definitely a must here.
Hostel is clean and staff is nice. Location is good, a walking distance from most attractions. Overall good value.

IrelandThe reception is at the back of the bar and is not continuously manned, so you might have to make yourself known to get any service.
Location is great, a stone throw away from the bus to Dublin, a short walk from the bus to Galway and the main bus station in town. The free breakfast offered is minimal, but it is also free, so no complaints. Toast with butter/marmelade, three types of cereals and milk. Didn't taste the coffee, so can't review. The rooms are small, but sufficient. The ensuite bathroom has a really good mirror light. Easy entrance separate from the bar, but there is indeed a lively bar downstairs if you want to hang out.
