How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I slept in 3 different beds for a 3-night stay, because of a mistake that was made at check in by the staff. If I didn’t mind changing beds, I’m less happy that I had to sleep in non-clean bedsheets on the 3rd night bc of that mistake. When I asked for new sheets, the lady told me no, and that it was my fault because I took the wrong bed. But I know I took the right bed and could prove it with the paper that was given to me at check-in.
Location is perfect. The bar is really nice and cosy with live music every night. Music stops at a reasonable hour, so no loud noise at night. Rooms was small but practical, bathroom was clean. The common room and kitchen are nice.

A lady behind the bar used the word retard in on itself I suppose most of us would take no offence but it's something I would not expect from a person behind the bar and when I challenged the comment she fobbed me off so I called her fat which was an actual true fact. So she had no right or reason to use a word that basically all irish people have been brought up not to use. My opinion don't give it if you can't take it

They close the communal tv / kitchen area at 11 pm. This leaves you nowhere to go if you don’t want to go to bed. This meant I had to stop the work I was doing which is really not good. I ended up sitting outside where a local took offence to the fact I was an English C**t and was ready to fight until I stood up and squared up to him. Needless to say I will find somewhere else next time I’m in Cork

They are so considerate knowing I mistakenly booked for a mixed bedroom but since there were 3 men in that room they transferred me to an empty 4 bedroom where I stayed alone. Thanks for that!

They always allocate me the bed that is up even though there is no one down which makes it difficult for me when am tired or drunk

Clean hostel with a nice bar downstairs. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Amazing value for the money, as a group of four we ended up with a dorm to ourselves which was ideal!

Rooms are very small. Roommates were drunkards who didn't even mind taking their shoes off before going to bed. At 6 in the morning a completely pissed guy crashed into the room, shouting and rioting.

It was unbereable to sleep due to the level of noise coming from the bar on a night. Music didn't stop till 2am on friday and Saturday and half 11 on Sunday. Bed was vibrating from the sound, we bought earplugs and all sorts and nothing helped to get rid of the vibrating sound from the music downstairs. The bedroom is directly above the bar, and they have taken no steps to sound proof or in fact provide information about this prior to booking. Water in a shower was scolding hot, had to use cold water bottle at the same time to tolerate the heat.

December and a hostel without any heating except for the fireplace in the living room. We lay covered in the beds to keep us warm. Loud music in whole ground floor constantly, without a single second of pause

A DJ playing until 02.30am in the bar downstairs, the single sheet toilet paper & the slamming of doors by the cleaners at 8am in the morning but its a hostel & my 1st & last time staying in one!!

The bathrooms were not cleaned regularly, which also meant the toilet paper was not replaced. There were broken, uneven tiles and holes in the wall. The bedrooms were small. The beds were unstable and you could feel everytime your bunk mate moved or got out of bed. I had questionable roommates. Not a very social hostel at all. If you’re a young traveller wanting to make friends, don’t come here. The hostel attracts a weird demographic. A lot of older men. Perhaps grouping mixed dorms by age group would be appropriate. Girls, I highly recommend you choose an all female dorm if the option is available.
The best part about this property was the location, and checking out. The usb ports and charging in the beds were also nice.

The luggage cages (under-bed storage lockers) were quite noisy when moved, and unfortunately, I did not have the best experience with my roommates.
Great location, easy check-in and check-out, typical hostel breakfast in a cosy setting. The bathroom inside of the room was clean. Beautiful Christmas decoration

The shower was a push button which went off after about 10 seconds. Not to bad for me as I have no hair to wash 😂
