How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There was nothing not to like. Really great and location was so near to town centre 🤗
Beautiful quiet location. Lovely to hear birds singing early in the morning. Hosts were very helpful and had everything we needed.

Was welcomed on arrival by the proprietor Gerry. Gerry gave me a personal tour of the premises and was very welcoming. The following morning I was presented with one of the best continental breakfasts I had in a while. All of the products were very well presented and laid out, in what was a very homely atmosphere, with Gerry in attendance.

Jerry and Mary were very nice and helpful. Their house was very pretty and room was nice. The grounds were pretty and easy to get to. They made a very nice breakfast. I would definitely recommend this place.

The twenty minute walk into town is ambitious, more like 30 minutes.
Ambience, continental breakfast was good and well presented. Gerry, the host, was very friendly. Quite peaceful location.

Great check in. Clean and comfortable room/bed. Very nice continental breakfast, but with some very important differences. A well organised tray of added extras. Nuts, seeds, berries. Great selection of breads and scones. Well done Gerry.

Breakfast was nice (I loved the scones, cereal options, and fruit)...my husband would have enjoyed a bit more protein options.
Gerry was super accommodating, given we had just arrived from the States at 5 a.m. He stored our luggage and gave us tips for things to see in town... despite being busy with breakfast for his current guests. The room was wonderfully quiet and super cozy to catch up on needed sleep. Having coffee, tea, biscuits, and other trays available made the stay even more enjoyable! The private shower and bathroom were very clean.

Just perhaps the breakfast was a little bit early for me, who has a small appetite in the morning. I finished eating around 09:30 and checkout was at 11am.
I had a very pleasant stay. I highly recommend. I took the opportunity to stay there during the bank holiday on 05 May. The hosts were attentive, the house is very charming and quiet. The room was comfortable. The home-made breakfast was good.

Breakfast wasn’t reflective of a B&B…very light. Yogurt, fruit, pastries and granola. Missing a protein (ie hardboiled egg or some meat and cheese).

Everything was good
The house is beautiful. I had the twin room, it was spacious. Beautiful bathroom, large shower. Good breakfast. Nice walk into town, 20 or more minutes.

Gerry and Mary were so kind and welcoming. The space was comfortable and well appointed, yet had history and character. I appreciated Gerry’s explanations of how names of local places had been Anglicized from the Gaelic. The breakfasts were fantastic! It’s a great base for exploring County Clare.

Talk about The Host and Hostess with The Mostess - they certainly welcomed and looked after us at Knockaderry House! The House is circa 1835 (obviously modernised!) and so well-landscaped that it feels miles from anywhere. While the House is a short 15 min drive (not walk) from downtown Ennis, the distance is not enough to dissuade from returning to see the Ennis sights. While there, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the historic and lovely Old Ground Hotel. Our visiting The Poets Corner pub/restaurant was at the suggestion of our Knockaderry host, and it was a spot-on idea!

Breakfast was gorgeous however we would’ve liked the option of having something other than continental, for example an Irish breakfast fry.
Gerry was a great host and made sure we had every thing we needed. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable. A wonderful stay all round !

Nothing we disliked, just would have liked to have had a TV in our room.
Lovely warm and comfortable property. Gerry made us feel very welcome and at home. The bread at breakfast was just divine!
