Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe luggage storage system is not optimal: one cannot know the dimensions (depth in particular) of storage boxes without renting one (also, the staff at the reception couldn't give me a precise answer about that) so one might end up renting a box too small for one's bag.
Beds are rather comfortable and dorms correctly equipped.

AustraliaThe buffet breakfast (which cost 6€) did not have much range or variety, and i felt that perhaps the price i paid for my bed could have included a breakfast of this size and variety. Also, many of the soap dispensers in the bathrooms were missing
Beds were comfortable and the hostel was in a good location- easy to walk to various attractions

Hong KongThere was no shared kitchen for you to prepare your food.
The location was easy to go to the old town on foot or take a bus or tram if you want. It provided all the basic things.

Hong KongThe hostel did not have shared kitchen for food preparation.
It located in a quiet area. The hostel had provided all the basic except a shared kitchen. One could choose to take bus or tram to go to the down town area or just walked a little bit of time along the river. The river view was good and there were a number of restaurants or shops on both sides of the river. The sightseeing points were all inside the main town area. If you didn't mind walking, no need to take any bus or tram.

United KingdomMy stuff was gone (towel & slippers) because of a miscommunication between staff. I was the only guy staying in the room over night and the cleaner thought that everybody was moving out so some of my stuff was gone (thrown away?). I was given a complimentary breakfast and a towel - everybody was trying to fix the problem but the hostel had run out of slippers by the time I moved in so I got none
Convenient location, very close to the centre of Dublin. Nice cafe nearby. The price was the most reasonable amongst all the options available on Booking. Easy check-in. The lobby area has plenty of space. The shared toilets and baths are clean

United KingdomSnoring room mates but I guess this isn’t the hostels fault. Seems to be popular with young party crowd/stag parties etc so maybe look elsewhere if you are looking somewhere quieter.
Good hostel in Smithfield, Dublin. Good location close to public transport or walkable to centre. Nice staff, let me check in about an hour early as the bed was ready. Comfortable beds and shared bathroom in room. Nice bar area.

United StatesI might’ve made a mistake personally when booking the room, but I could’ve sworn I chose all-female accommodations and it ended up being a mixed/mostly male room. I was a bit uneasy and had to double/triple check in the morning to make sure I was the one in the wrong, but luckily, everything worked out ok and everyone was very respectful.
So conveniently located! The bar and food offered here are so good and fun, and the social environment is the absolute BEST. I had such a blast! Would definitely stay here again. The employees here were also EXTREMELY kind and helpful!

United StatesThe bathrooms were pretty dirty. Seems like they didn't get enough attention. Private bathroom was moldy, so went to public and found the same thing. Missing handles on the shower, no real place to setup a kit inside the shower stall. No shelves and not enough hangers for clothing, and towel.
It was new, and the staff was great!! They had a bar, and other things to keep people interested. Close to the trains and bus line. Walking distance to everything.

AustraliaWhilst generator dublin has good facilities, it lacks the party hostel vibe it advertises. At 10pm the bar area closed, meaning you could not even sit in the area and access the pool tables, or water facility past this time. On top of this, the outside area closed at 10pm, allegedly due to complaints from neighbours. The outside area being closed leaves guests having to go outside the front to smoke and vape which is unsafe. Alternatively, the team could just make the outside area a quiet space after 10pm so guests do not have to feel unsafe standing out the front. On top of this, as this hostel is advertised for ages 18-40, i was quite surprised to find groups of school kids running around. It should be disclosed on the booking page that this hostel allows young children within the facility, as advertising it as an 18+ hostel is a blatant lie. Another issue that was not advertised well on the website is that if you book a mixed room, the girls bathrooms are on the lower floor - this should be disclosed as i would have booked a room with the bathroom facilities on the same floor. For the hefty price of this hostel, i feel quite deceived by how the hostel operated.
Bedrooms are designed well and are new and up to date. Bathrooms are well maintained.

IrelandThe bedrooms were really dusty and not all the “new”beds had clean linen on them (two of us were given beds with unclean linen). I felt safe enough once inside but I met other solo female travellers who didn’t and that security didn’t do anything when they voiced their concerns. Tons of young school students running and banging on doors until 2am (obvs expected less sleep in a hostel) but I could hear guests going to reception to complain and no one came to check.
It’s in Smithfield and right beside the luas line so it’s super handy. The communal bathrooms were clean and the staff were nice!

United StatesThe stool in the room was so short that it was not possible to use the desk. I had a window that opened to an area with benches and the users were very loud. The good news is that it was not in loud late into the night.

LuxembourgThe cleanliness of the communal bathrooms, showers and toilets was lacking. This was not due to the staff cleaning poorly but rather due to some of the guests being..less than ideal human specimens. Cleaning more often might solve this issue. Definitely bring slippers for walking through the communal areas.
The staff was very friendly and efficient. They welcomed me and informed me well about all things hostel related as well as the nearby restaurants and the like. The rooms were big enough and had all the necessary amenities to make my stay comfortable.

ItalyWe booked a private room with a private bathroom, so we expected a higher level of cleanliness and comfort, but we were disappointed. Just after checking in, we found a very dirty pillow on our bed, and the room was also not as clean as it should have been. The environment had very poor lighting with a single, narrow window facing the exterior courtyard, offering very little privacy. The bathroom was very basic, and you have to pay to get towels and any other amenities, which is, in fact, a major downside. Additionally, the cleaning service was very sloppy, and we had to request extra cleaning twice, which was never actually done.
The hostel is located in a very convenient area, full of shops and bars, with the city center only a 20-minute walk away (it is also possible to get there by bus or tram if needed), but this is one of its very few pros.

IrelandThe location is good. But just because the hotel offers group rooms, this means that there is a need for a kitchen and a place to eat. I felt that the management wants to force customers to eat in the bar or restaurant, depending on the location.
