How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Manager Lynn could not have made us feel more welcome. Went above and beyond to help us make further travel plans. Also facilitated us bringing our dog with no issue. Could not recommend more highly.

We were going to the Cliffs of Moher and wanted to stay a bit away. This B&B was a great find. The couple running it was very nice and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome. It was a very quick drive to the Cliffs, and Lisdoonvarna was a quiet quant town. I highly recommend this hotel!

There is a distinct smell to the rooms that isn't necessarily bad, just sort of "old." We didn't mind it, but it was surprising walking in at first. This isn't negative towards the hotel, but be sure that if you're traveling without a rental car that you are carrying cash and you are knowledgable of the bus time tables. It's a very small little town with only (I think) two buses running daily which are cash only. My friend and I ended up staying out pretty late to see the Cliffs of Moher, past the bus times (around 7/8), so we paid for an Uber (~60 euros round-trip) which was fine, but I don't think it's guaranteed you get an Uber/taxi at night. Just be aware! This isn't meant to be a dissuasion.
Staying at Rathbaun was like staying at my grandparents in the best possible way. Being young girls traveling alone for the first time, my friend and I made plenty of mistakes. However, the owners ensured that we were always safe and that we had a plan. Right as we got there they explained the different locations we could visit around Lisdoonvarna and helped us plan our route with buses and all. They gave us maps, suggestions, and taxi driver numbers. It was amazing! On our last day we ran into a bit of trouble when we ran out of cash for the bus. They pulled us back into the hotel and told us to sit in the dining area while we replanned, offering us coffee and even some of their own cash. I've never felt so safe and comfortable! I will never forget Rathbaun! Also, the beds are comfortable, the walls a bit thin but not so bad, sleep was 10/10, the TV was sort of tricky at first because it's old but it worked great, the water in the room was lovely, and so was the candy! The bathroom was also perfectly fine. P.S. We visited Doolin to take the Doolin Ferry to the Aran Islands (Inis Mor), and then saw the Cliffs of Moher in the evening.

staff were so lovely - asked us about our evening plans at check in and when we said we wanted food/music, kindly booked us a table at a spot that tends to fill up quickly! Also gave us tips on what to do and see locally. Great location, very near to bus stop and also to Spar, in-room treats like tea and chocolates were a nice touch

Everything, Lynn & John were fantastic host, they gave us so much information from places to visit to places to eat, the hotel was spotless, the breakfast was hot and plenty of it, we would highly recommend this hotel and the price was very reasonable, it was a great place to put down roots for 2 days to cover the area

The staircase was awkward with a door that needed opened mid step and no handrail. Also when a young staff member was being reprimanded for not leavening a wet floor sign out in back kitchen, I felt sad for the young girl and didn’t appreciate this being done in earshot of guests or even the tone of language used.
I loved the central location of this property. The food was amazing and staff very friendly. Even carried my case to the room. Very enjoyable visit.
