The rooms are quite dark but we only slept there anyways so it didn’t bother us.

We had a lovely stay, lots of craic with the staff and other guests. The food was great too. The location of course is gorgeous! We will be back for sure.

We did wake up with our neighbours having a party in the small hours. I am vegetarian. I chose the tai green Curry and the sauce was delicious but the vegetables were very scarce. I would suggest another couple of vegetarian dishes be added to the menu. My friend had a fish dish which was plentiful and also delicious.

Well situated, Very comfortable bed. A staff/Manager member Sennin was so kind and attentive. He gave us plenty of advice of where to go and what to do. He was so friendly. The guy who was singing (Can't remember name, sorry.) He was fab and his song choices were just wonderful. Very enjoyable stay and we will be back in the Spring/Summer. I am recommending to friends.

Had problems with a strong smell, something to do with plumbing, but soonest we brought it to your manager's attention he moved us to another room so the problem was solved immediately.

I'm a Donegan (North Carolina) having connections to the Rusty Mackerel way back at its inception. I most excited to get there and see the rooms you've added on and you did not disappoint. We loved being there and enjoyed our breakfasts as well as the drinks and eats while staying there.

Runaway favorite of the entire family during a busy week of exploring Ireland. Staff was very accommodating, food for dinner and breakfast was excellent, fantastic pub atmosphere, and the location worked perfectly for what we were doing. I didn't know what to expect for the rooms, but they were perfect for us--small but comfortable, clean, and quiet.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and comfortable but the only natural light is from the glass in the door as there are no windows, so if you are in any way claustrophobic, this would not suit you. The dining room is very small with only room for about twenty people and it can be busy as The Rusty Mackerel is very popular with tourists and locals. They do have a spacious heated and covered terrace which can be used if things get too busy.

Great staff, and a lovely bar although very small. The food was amazing and the service was first-class. There is ample car parking just across the road. The location is rural but it is very close to Sliabh Leigue and is a paradise for walkers. Unfortunately, we stayed during a bad storm and the weather was so bad that it was impossible to get out walking. Definitely a great spot for a quiet getaway and central for many of the fabulous tourist areas in Donegal.

    Nothing to dislike

Stayed here as a stopover whilst driving the WAW, so glad we did.  The place was heaving, giving the place a really good vibe , with a trad session about to start. We arrived after a day on the road but we were navigated through our check in with lovely  helpful friendly staff, they never lost sight of us or our needs. For example as soon as we were back in the bar after being shown our room they were sorting us a table to eat, checking we had drinks, very attentive considering  how busy they  were. We had really wanted to stay here for the bar /pub/ food/music side of things  and we were prepared for the rooms to be just  " somewhere to sleep" as they seemed to be just an outside block of  "portacabinny " in design sort of  spaces..hence somewhere " to sleep" How WRONG could we have been! !! It was a cosy, spotlessly clean, warm , comfortable room and ensuite. It had everything  you would need in a hotel room. It definitely  would not have been a problem  to have had to stay longer . Our room was room 6. This room was recommended for us after a phone call to the RM about concerns about my husband  having mobility  issues and being able to get in and out of bed with the ladder at the bottom of the bed, we had thought perhaps the ladder was removable and wanted to check , the really helpful  man on the phone , told us he had a room that would be  suitable for us and would arrange it, room 6. It was suitable ,thank you so much for your thoughtful consideration. We had a really enjoyable stay, couldn't  fault anything and the even the check out  was memorable.  Check out is the bar , which was cleaned up and ready for the next day with a big welcoming fire roaring in the fireplace. Guests wandered in to check out and it was so relaxed and friendly,  more like saying goodbye after staying over at a friend's party the night before. There was no rush just a nice relaxed friendly experience...and then, a first...

The only recommendations I would make is to install a shelf in the bathrooms to accommodate toiletries. Also our room didn't have any bedside tables which would have also been nice. However, we still thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Great staff, good food and service. Clean well appointed rooms in a beautiful location.

Found it hot overall. In the pub and in the room.

Great pub with excellent live music. Breakfast was tasty and the location is nice, a few minutes drive from the cliffs. Even though the pub was right there, it wasn't noisy in the rooms.
