Great pub near Slieve League, don't miss it!

No window in our room (triple room) made it very stuffy and warm despite cooler temperates outside, felt this should be advertised. Dinner a bit pricey but the food was good.

Phenomenal pub near the Slieve Leagues, easily one of my favorites during my three weeks in Ireland. Great live music and atmosphere in the evening with very friendly staff and other customers. My partner and I used the Rusty Mackerel as our base for hikes to Slieve League. Super easy to walk from the pub/room to the visitor center and take the shuttle from there to the starting point of various hikes. Would come back in a heartbeat.

The rooms were a little tight for two large ( long travelling) suitcases.

We had one great night at the Rusty Mackerel. The rooms were donga-style out the back with a pleasant out door sitting area. The meal at the pub was great, but the atmosphere with live music was what made our night. A mix of locals and tourists made it lively.

The staff is very friendly, professional, and helpful. Had inner there and the service/food was very good. There was a band playing in the pub in the evening, really good atmosphere. I had the tastiest smoked salmon ever at breakfast - it was melting. There is a green area at the back which you can enjoy in a sunny day, it offers a nice view on the mountains.

As the room had no window, it did get a bit hot, but the fan provided was great

Fantastic Dog-Friendly pub stay in a stunning location, ideal for visiting the cliffs Both Dinner and breakfast the next morning were fantastic with great quality ingredients. It was great that the rooms also had tea-making facilities.

Loved all of it. Rooms are small as they are added in out the back of the hotel, but they were comfortable & fine for us.

Staying at this hotel/b&b is a total experience! The local music, atmosphere, food all wonderful, busy friendly staff checked us in right away. Breakfast was such a treat with incredible menu. Room was comfortable though small & had all we needed. After dinner & music we walked up to the cliffs of Sliabh Liag on a sunny evening for spectacular views. Fab stay.

Fantastic location, well removed from bigger towns. Rooms were comfortable and modern. The food and atmosphere was just amazing--and the music was ideal. Not too loud, fully authentic, and totally quiet when you were in the accommodation rooms. We heard of this place through James O'Donnell and his dogs, Iggy & Frida--completely met and exceeded expectations!

The rooms were nicely equipped and clean. The only problem is that I could hear someone snoring all night. This would be one thing if it had been my husband, but…. it was someone in the room next to us. Thin walls, I guess.

Location, restaurant, delicious dinner and breakfast, adorable and historic pub, fantastic live music, colorful and friendly locals, and convenience to the Wild Atlantic Way and hiking at beautiful Slieve League. Since the dinner, pub, friendly locals and wonderful live music will combine to make you want to stay and drink a bit more than you might otherwise, the convenience of walking out back to your hotel room at the end of the night cannot be beat.

    Nothing.....it was perfect.

The location...near the Slieve League cliffs. The atmosphere... lively and fun. Friendly staff...the food was amazing. The music was fun to listen to and experience. The building was historical / traditional. Breakfast was ample with many choices, we even ate the whiskey oatmeal; it was excellent. All in all we would highly recommend this stay.
