It is out in the middle of nowhere; but to be honest, that was also a plus. Gave us seclusion and quiet. The breakfast was adequate, but could have had some eggs and bacon.

Price and quiet and scenic. Hot geo thermal outdoor bath!! The restaurant was excellent!!! Limited rooms made it a very personal experience.

Very nice staff. Peaceful location. Comfortable and wonderful views. Its appearance is rather like portakabins but that belies a pleasant but very simple interior with spacious rooms. Has a very pleasant hot spring.

Our third time Basalt hotel, and still it is heaven on earth! The rooms are spacious, with great beds and a great shower and a huge bathroom! Of course we emerged ourselves the hot tub, with the amazing view on the valley. The hosts are so friendly, and nice to meet one of the owners again ☺️ We will certainly return! Huge recommendation! We had such a wonderful stay at Basalt Hotel. Beautiful hotel in a stunning peaceful location. Rooms were beautifully designed and super clean. Breakfast and food at the restaurant was great. The owners were also lovely and knowledgeable about the local area. Perfect location to see the northern lights if they’re out. Wish we could have stayed for longer!

We loved the location away from all stress from city life. The highlands of Iceland is not far away and we could ride for hours on our fourwheeler and always saw something new exciting. The breakfast and dinner were very good and we slept like babies this weekend.

Location, facilities, staff and the food was outstanding! Our dinner was delicious and our breakfast was prepared to go and to our surprise we had two yummy sandwiches and juice boxes.. very sweet as we had to check out at 7am for planned activities… Service from Ale was wonderful! The property is really in the middle of nowhere…. Making it the perfect location for the northern lights…. and we couldn’t say enough about the outside hot tub… one of the most incredible experiences ever! We were blown away truly!

the only thing that bothered me just a slight bit was that our room smelled a little bit of mildew.... it went real bothersome however I noticed it eery time we came into our room

Secluded and beautiful area. Staff was very friendly and helped us a lot with planning hikes and activities for the next day. Room was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this place especially if you are tired of hustle and bustle of the city.

Even though the location is out in the country, that is also it's charm. Just walk outside to a very dark night for excellent viewing of the northern lights. Many things to explore from their location.

The location is a bit remote, and it's a bit scary to drive there at night, as you have to walk about ten kilometers on a small road; the room is large, neat and clean; the view outside the window is particularly beautiful; the breakfast is relatively simple but very delicious.

Nothing--we loved it!

This hotel is special. The location, the secluded serene setting, the hot pot that overlooks the expansive open field. We loved everything about it. Dinner was really good. My husband said it was the best lamb gravy he'd ever had--and he's tasted a lot of it. :) The staff was great and the owners put a lot of love into providing a nice experience. If it wasn't cloudy the night we were there it would have been the ultimate place to see the Northern Lights. We had no problems finding the place and check-in was a breeze.

There was nothing to dislike. The Basalt hotel exceeded all expectations.

The breakfast was very tasty. Cleanliness was off the charts in both the hallways, rooms, and bathrooms. The location is far from most other things but it is 100% worth it. Absolutely stunning location.
