Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomA great and fun place to stay. A fabulous restaurant for dinner and lovely walks on site and a fun place to learn about Iceland Troll myths. The room was big and clean.

United StatesThere were a few flies in the room (makes sense being in the countryside) and it was so warm in the room that my glasses fogged up when I walked in.
The location and view were phenomenal. We enjoyed walking the grounds, seeing the troll garden, and walking along the river. Dinner was excellent and the view from the restaurant was indescribable. The location exceeded my expectations.

Czech RepublicA small detail - easily fixable: short power cord of the kettle, you can't pour water without unplugging it from the (inaccessible) outlet... ;-)
We stayed in a room with a bathroom for two nights. The room had a small fridge, microwave and kettle with coffee, tea and wine glasses :-). Breakfast was delicious, on a beautiful glassed-in terrace overlooking the waterfall. It's amazing that the owner thinks of everyone - if you prefer to self-cater, there are two well-equipped kitchens. If you want to stay in the privacy of your room, you have the basic equipment. And if you want to take advantage of the dinner option - and from my own experience I recommend it - just make a reservation. The real pearl is the hot tubs, fed by the most abundant European hot spring...! And don't forget to walk through the troll garden!

United StatesThe room was superb including a comfortable bed. It was special being away from the town - the setting was so beautiful. There are hiking trails starting at this location. We loved the hot tubs filled with water from a hot spring - so relaxing after a long drive. Breakfast was delicious. My favorites were the smoked salmon and lots of delicious fruit at breakfast we sat by windows overlooking a beautiful waterfall. We even got to watch the Northern lights paint the sky for 45 minutes.

I have booked this location for the second time and every time I felt like home. The staff is super nice and always ready to help or just to chat. The breakfast is amazing, just beside the waterfall. I also booked a dinner (in November they appreciate if you book in advance regarding food) and it was delicious. Lots of local food to try. They also have their own beer and I recommend it. It was also a nice spot to watch Aurora. I hope my wallet will be able to take me there again this year.

United StatesNothing sticks out, it was exactly what I had expected.
Breakfast was included with our room and was a good spread and filling for the day of hiking. The location was perfect for what we had planned. We also ate dinner at the Rock and Troll Restaurant both nights we stayed there. The food and the service were very good. As someone who is very familiar with music from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, the music being played during breakfast and dinner was excellent. I would recommend Fossatun Country Hotel for anyone who wants to see and hike Iceland’s beautiful countryside.

CanadaThe rooms were not very well lit. So if you want the daylight coming in to brighten up the room, you would need to open the blinds which would result in absolutely in no privacy.
The location of the hotel is just amazing. The view from our room was a magnificent waterfall. Our room was at the bottom of small hill on which there were these interesting artifacts curated by the hotel. It was quite fun. The view from that hill top too was amazing. We got to witness Northern Lights the first time from there. We had dinner and breakfast there and the food was just delicious. Their mushroom soup is a must try! They also have a hot tub which we really enjoyed!

South AfricaWe were disappointed to be told that the hotel had run out of sachets of coffee etc. for the rooms and on our second day had to share a single early morning cup of coffee.
An interesting mix of self catering and camping chalets: we enjoyed the breakfast, used the well equipped communal kitchen and relaxed in the wonderful hot tubs!

The location was great and overlooked Trollfoss, the room was nice and clean, the food was yummy, the Troll Garden was spectacular and fun, and the owner was friendly and offered to sign the books we purchased. And what a wonderful vinyl collection from this accomplished record producer/owner! We really enjoyed the music playing in the restaurant - it brightened our day. The whole experience was amazing and will be one of our favorite memories of Iceland! 🇮🇸 🧌

United KingdomOne shelf in the wardrobe was looking tired so if staying more nights that might have been a problem
If you're staying in Iceland but want to be out of the main path of the Reykjavik masses, this is perfect accomodation. The staff have been incredible and there are also little glamping pods which look cool! Didn't go in the Hut tubs on site because we wanted to go to Krauma which is 10 mins up the road and watch the sunset from there. We ate in the restaurant after and would recommend and their duo dishes are a great idea for tasting delicious dishes (we were still really full and wouldn't have managed a full starter and main of each!) really reasonable considering Iceland prices and the portion size. We got 500isk off as a discount when buying the Toll book and a T shirt which was an added bonus, particularly as the author of the book signed it for us as well - it's his business I think! Our nephew will be really pleased! Comfy beds and clean accomodation, slightly dated but still fit for use. Great little overnight on our ring road adventure. there's also a Troll garden walk which is free for those staying and was great for views around the place
