How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Nothing at all just a heads-up for future travelers: plan your dinner ahead of time. Most nearby restaurants close by 9 or 10 PM, which caught me off guard. Totally on me, not the property’s fault.
Peaceful, charming, and surrounded by open Icelandic beauty. The guesthouse was cozy, clean, and welcoming with a wonderful breakfast in the morning. There were also plenty of bathrooms and showers, and I never had to wait once. A great place to unwind after a full day of exploring.

Our room was facing the woods, and although it was raining it was warm, so we had to open the window. Unfortunately this filled the room with tiny biting critters and we itched and scratched for the rest of our trip. Nowhere seems to have screens. Other rooms didn't seem to have the bugs so I think it was a combo of the weather and the way the room was facing. Of all the places we stayed this had more of the feel of a 'hostel' rather than a guesthouse. I prefer a cozier vibe, but that's a personal thing.
Great location. Excellent breakfast. We had a room with a shared bathroom which is not usually my preference, but was fine. We were on the top floor and most of the bathrooms were down two floors, but we didn't have to wait ever. The bathrooms were clean and the water was hot! The room was simple, but adequate. Wi-Fi worked!

Although advertised as being in Selfoss, it is actually about 12 km to east on the ring road so it is a bit isolated
We had the room for 4 which was essentially two rooms, larger one had a double bed and the smaller one had 2 twins beds. Bathroom is shared but had no problems accessing as there are 5 showers and 3 toilets for the 6 rooms on our floor which included a large common room with a TV.

Very relaxing place! I really enjoyed the breakfast – it was delicious! I wish we had stayed longer than just one night. For this type of accommodation and price, it was an excellent choice!

Lovely lovely staff with loads of useful suggestions on what to see, we used their advice for the rest of the trip. Self check ins have become so common so this was a really nice and welcoming change. The room was also the comfiest out of the six places we stayed in while in Iceland. The room was very spacious with large windows. We also couldn’t hear the other guests. The whole property is very clean and they ask for no shoes inside (but they provide slippers). We were sharing a toilet with others but never had to wait to use it. The continental breakfast was a common offering while we stayed in Iceland, but I liked this one specifically because it had salmon and seafood salads too. The place was easy to find and there was a lot of parking spots available. We will certainly be back here if we find ourselves on the Iceland’s south coast again.

Breakfast selection was big and everything was delicious. Room was really nice and warm, good for 3 people, toilette and common spaces were clean. The gentleman working there is very nice and welcoming. We had really nice talks. We visited the stone shop he recommended and was really amazing.

Great accommodation, well placed for star trip. Excellent location for northern light chasing. The owners are very cooperative in all means. Very good breakfast in a Cousy and very pleasant dining room. Bottom line: warm recommendation.

I love the variation and choices of food and breakfast. My husband loved the smoked salmon. It was nice meeting Bríet and Ágúst- we have the same birthday month. It's a homy place to stay.
