Was worried about the number of WC/Showers available but even with an almost full guesthouse, there was rarely a wait. So somehow it all works out.

Helpful staff, comfortable room, great breakfast layout, and lots of information to help you out. They even did our laundry for us on our layover day. Great place. Would stay again!

Guesthouse Bitra is on a beautiful country farm just outside of the small city of Selfoss. Room was very clean and as described. We stayed with our two children and everyone was comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic!!

Our room was in the basement. There were windows, but there was a damp smell due to the showers. Better ventilation would help, or dehumidifier. Or maybe if there was a tile floor instead of indoor outdoor carpet.

The Guesthouse is perched on top of a hill, so you can see spectacular views. The staff was friendly and even though we shared bathroom facilities, there was never a wait. There was a common area with tables and couches on our floor with tea and a small kitchenette. The small sink and towels in the room made it even more convenient.

Twin room with shared bath was small.

Breakfast was excellent, great selection and buffet was well-maintained. Shared bathrooms were clean and spacious, at least on the ground level. The common area was also large and comfortable and included instant coffee and tea.

Very hard to turn on shower in one of the bathrooms downstairs. The handle was so tight I had to get my friend to help me.

What we didn't like: - The room was a bit smaller and with 2 suitcases in it got crowded really fast. It's ok for short stays, we stayed for 2 nights.

What we liked: - breakfast - they had salmon with herbs and a delicious tuna salad - the house is located outside Selfoss town in a quiet and wild area - no outdoor shoes inside policy to keep the dirt and mud at the door - although there was a guesthouse with shared bathrooms, we had a sink in the room.

For us it was just to sleep, have a breakfast and go. We had there everything, what we needed. Breakfast was very good. There were dark enough in our room to sleep well.

The hosts are very friendly and welcoming and charming. The guest house is spacious and well situated, not far from the attractions (glacier, waterfalls, volcano...). The breakfast is copious and hearty, exactly what you need for Icelandic hiking trips and weather. A very nice stay, the best we had in Iceland.
