Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyNothing specifically. Maybe it would be nice to have a bigger storage for the luggage.
An experience never tried before (to sleep in a capsule). The bed was quite comfortable and also the bathrooms were clean. The kitchen was well equipped (with all you may need for cooking), with also a fridge room.

IcelandCapsules are plastic and have squeaky stairs and this stressed me out especially during the night. One card for DOUBLE capsule is a bit uncomfortable in case of for ex. showers
Great atmosphere, really nice and Helpful personel. Super localisation in the middle of Downtown. A loft of things available in common kitchen (baking poder, sugar etc.)

GermanyCould use some better storing - like lockers with a key so you don’t have to carry all your valuable belongings into the bed….
Fun experience to sleep in a space cabin! Nice and tidy establishment, kitchen was a bit closed off but usable. Great location in the middle of the Main Street - bars, cafes and restaurants were easy to reach. Uncomplicated check-in - I’d come again :)

United KingdomThe lighting within the pods is blue I would prefer a soft yellow or white lighting and the fan included as part of the capsule is so underpowered and it was slightly uncomfortable within the pod (although not enough to interfere with my sleep and it was unusually warm while I was in Iceland). The street parking Infront of the hostel is now closed off so parking is now a short walk (<5mins) and you can park for free between 16:00 and 10:00 which was fine for me as I was out exploring between those times
The self check in was easy and the video explaining the use of the capsules gave all the information you needed. The common rooms and kitchen were very clean and comfortable to hand out with with even a small games room available until 22:00 and very quiet when I was there. It's also well located with plenty of places to head out to after a busy day exploring. Overall perfectly happy with my choice to stay here.

New ZealandOnly thing was that I couldn't connect to the TV in the pod, but I was very tired from driving the whole day so just watched a few videos on my phone then went to sleep so it didn't really matter :)
The hostel is amazing! I don't normally like hostels without a reception, but from what I could tell staff were onsite/available if needed for most regular desk hours. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, the fridge is HUGE! The dining area is spacious and was very clean and the bathrooms were great as well. Located directly above the main shopping street, if you're self driving parking isn't hard to find (could be costly though during the week but if you don't mind an uphill walk there is free street parking within 5 mins walk.) Also the free coffee & tea is always greatly appreciated!

IcelandThere were only a couple of downsides during my stay. First, the keycard for the pod doesn’t work for the main entrance of the hostel, so you have to remember a PIN code to get in. Not a big issue, just a small annoyance that could probably be improved. The main issue was with the power outlets inside the pods. While each pod has both USB and regular outlets, the power output was extremely low. My phone, which normally charges from 0 to 100% in about two hours, was estimating over eight hours and even stopped charging altogether at one point. That was genuinely frustrating. Thankfully, there are plenty of power outlets in the dining area at least 15 so I charged my phone there instead.
The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of downtown, directly on the central pedestrian street. Bars, restaurants, shops, and the harbor are all just a few minutes’ walk away. Parking is conveniently close (1–2 minutes), though it's only free after 4 PM until 10 AM on weekdays—free all weekend. The facilities are just as impressive. The kitchen is spacious and industrial-style, with plenty of prep space, a large freezer, several tables, and even a cozy lounge area with sofas. There's also a large outdoor terrace with seating, which was a great spot to relax. Bathrooms are another highlight: they’re individual and private—not the usual large shared men's and women's facilities. They were always clean and available, though I stayed in early May, so it may have been slightly off-season. Still, I never had to wait, even during peak hours. It might be different in high summer, but for me, everything worked perfectly.

IcelandThe shoes at the bottom of the stairs really smell, bathrooms needed checking more regularly as we’re often out of toilet paper and the showers had a plaster in one of them

IcelandThe mattress was veeery thin, I am used to camping and sleeping in different situations but I was a little stiff every morning. The air conditioning in the cubes was not great (survivable tho) and the worst was not being able to charge my phone inside the cube. I didn´t have a usb cable with me so maybe that was better but since I was working between 7:00 and 22:00 it was a bit harsh having to sit in the common room to charge late every night.
Everything was quite clean and nice. The bathrooms were super nice and roomy - usually I feel like hostel bathrooms are crowded and get dirty quickly but this was quite nice.

GermanyYou need to rent towels for 1000isk additionaly, and you need to do this before your arrival to get one. I got lucky having my own towel brought to my travels, but I think the towel price is too much for one night.
Hafnarstraeti Hostel is is pretty good option if you wanna stay in the area around Akureyri for a few days and don't spend too much money. The equipment of the kitchen is marvelous (really big) and there is plenty of space to chill with newly made friends (cozy living room, tables ect). You can call or write the staff every time, if you need help with something. Check in was easy by codes and key cards. The beds are perfect for having private space, although they are not very silent, you may hear other guests alarms or something. Didn't bother me that much though. Bathrooms are modern and very clean.
