Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe pods are not very comfortable and you can hear every noise from the pods around you. There are lots of lights in the pod that kept us awake along with the noises. However decent for a cheap hostel.
Extremely well located and very good value for money. The kitchen and bathroom facilities are very good and very clean. The staff were friendly.

GermanyCapsule was a bit cheap looking on the inside. What was actually annoying is how squeaky the capsules were. If we moved even a little bit it was really loud and the capsules around us would shake, too.
It was a unique experience to sleep in a pod! We loved it. There were many toilets and bathrooms available, fully equipped kitchen, large playroom and large dinning area. Capsules were very easy to use. Close to the harbour and the center. Generally a good experience.

NorwaySleeping in a capsule pod was a new experience, though not sure if it is one that I´d like to repeat anytime soon. The walls of the capsule provide privacy but do not block any sound, and with 32 capsules in a big room there is bound to be noise. Important to note is that there were no windows in the room where the capsules were, and even though there is a fan inside each capsule it still got quite warm.
The hostel is in the direct city centre of Akuyreri. We came by car and it was easy to find parking nearby. Lots of bathrooms, all with a shower. Very clean everywhere which was appreciated. Big communal kitchen with everything you need to cook a full meal.

SpainNo major complaints. Perhaps there could be more room to leave your shoes downstairs (shoes are not allowed inside the hostel, but the space downstairs is a little small for everyone's shoes when the hostel is full).
The capsules are easy to use and allow for privacy compared to a regular hostel with shared rooms (althgough they don't do much about the noise). Check-in after hours was available: they sent us a code for the door and another code for a locker where we could find the keycard for our capsules. The beds inside the capsule are comfortable. Double-bed capsules are big enough for two people to sleep and even keep some of your belongings inside. If you're carrying larger backpacks, make sure to bring your own lock for the lockers. There are several individual bathroom stalls with a toilet and a shower, and there was never a long line to use them even when the hostel was almost full. We didn't cook or use the shared fridge, but the kitchen area seemed clean. The dining area was also clean and comfortable. The location is very convenient, in the city center and only a short walk from the whalewatching harbor (which was the focus of our visit). Overall, it is a very good option if you're looking for cheap and convenient accomodation in Akureyri.

NetherlandsI didn't know where to put the dirty dishes.. 😊
It is a really nice hostel where I felt at home, due to the fact that shoes were not allowed and the couple that felt like parents 😁. I wish I have had the time to stay longer and get at rest. I also liked the television in the capsule, where I could cast my Netflix on.

SwitzerlandWe had difficulties finding the place, so please read the instructions well. It's a capsule hostel, so you room will be about 3.5m2, and not at all private (visually, yes, but you will hear everything of your 50 neighbors). Capsules are unfortunately Chinese (el cheapo), not Japanese. It's in my opinion too much technique for little effect (even for an IT guy). But: This is our first experience in a capsule hostel, so maybe it's just not our thing.
Location, free coffee, large shared kitchen, very kind staff.

Switzerland- Quality of the plastic pods could be better/more sturdy - expected a bit more help for my questions I had - not really a hostel experience, maybe because of a big school group being there (more anonymous than other hostels)
- Flexibility of owner arriving after midnight - very very central
