Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Only thing I didn't like was that our stay was so short

It was all good! We had a little bit of a challenge getting into the gated community it’s in because we didn’t have cell service in Jamaica to call Nastasia (host). But we just waited a couple minutes for a car to come along and followed them in. So perhaps more info on the check in process about needing someone to open the gate? Otherwise the whole stay was comfortable, clean, and fairly priced.
It was nice place with very friendly hosts. The room is within their house, but it’s on its own floor with a bathroom and a little workout / yoga room, so it feels private. We were only there for one night and picked it because it’s so close to the bus station, but we could have easily stayed longer and been very comfortable. Also the A/C unit goes a long way after a big travel day!

Booked off the plane and immediately accommodations were made. Hosts are a beautiful and nice couple. A/C and our own bathroom and comfortable bed. My husband stayed before so I knew would be a good stay.

Location took me a little time to find but that was mainly the taxi drivers fault
Area was very quiet, the gentleman who ran the property was very polite and humble and dropped me to get my coach free of charge. Also it's very close to the Knutsford express kingston station

I have no complaint at all everything was fine for my one night stay.
My hosts were very accommodating, hospitable, friendly. I was picked up from the coach station as I arrived in Kingston late, and the next morning I was dropped off to meet my next transport. So this was very welcomed.

The bathroom needs a bit of an upgrade. Something with the same modern feel as the room.

I like how warm and welcoming the hosts of Pearl of the City were. Also, how clean and fresh the environment was. Would definitely recommend place to anyone.

N/A - Everything was perfect.
There's not enough words for me to describe the type of hospitality that Nas & Francis provide. They're so kind, and warm. They really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable/welcomed. On the night that I arrived, Nas kindly drove me to a local spot for me to get some food. When leaving, she also kindly offered me some Ackee & Salt Fish ( which tasted absolutely amazing btw!), and Francis dropped me to the Knutsford Express station. The location of this property is walking distance to most places, including Juici Patty, Emancipation Park, Flow, Fish Pot & more. You can also hail down local taxis or call an Uber, when necessary. The property is exceptionally clean, and the bed was so comfortable that I struggled to leave it every morning. There was also a fridge & microwave in the room which came in very handy! The water pressure in the shower was amazing too. I honestly cannot fault the property, or the hospitality of both Nas & Francis. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the amazing AC in the room! If you're ever in Kingston, I would highly recommend that you stay here! I know that I definitely would not hesitate to return. As a solo woman traveller, I felt so safe! Thank you both for having me! Blessings...

It was an awesome experience. The room is exactly as shown in the photo, location is just across from the emancipation Park , kfc and burger king is in walking distance along with the pegasus hotel. The manager of thehotel was awesome good communications and they made our stay very welcoming , will be going back soon .thanks again for our tours and a great experience.
