Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaA gorgeous location, and really lovely, warm staff. The meals were amazing too, and we enjoyed soaking in the hot baths at the end of a long day outdoors.

SingaporeValue for money! Excellent Japanese tatami room with Mt Fuji view. Paid dinner and breakfast are value for money and delicious. Love the surrounding, quiet and peaceful, walking distance to the viewing point, the same picture as old Japanese Yen ¥1000 note

United KingdomAlthough I loved all the food, there wasn't quite as much choice/quantity for my vegan friend. Maybe charge a little less if someone is vegan/veggie
Loved it here, amazing view of Mt Fuji and only a few minutes to walk directly down to the lake. Loved trying all the local Japanese food for breakfast and dinner. They have kayaks and paddle boards to rent, and you can rent bicycles from the souvenir shop by the bus stop down the road to explore some of the other lakes and Aokigahara forest, they'll always pick you up/drop you off at the bus stop if you don't have a car. The rooms are basic but in traditional style, they also have an onsen downstairs to warm up after a cold day and kimonos in the room. Would definitely recommend staying here as it's a bit further away from any of the busier areas, so much more peaceful. I'd like to come back and stay at the campground directly by the lake next time, the sunrise there was stunning. Staying at Lake Motosu was actually the highlight of my whole Japan trip!

Costa RicaThis is not about the hotel, but a shame that the only bus that gets close to Koan comes from Minobu and only runs like 2 times on weekends. There are no kombinis near this place so prepare yourself before coming here, though you can buy drinks.
As a Yuru Camp fan, one night near Lake Motosu or here at Koan is something you must do. Both dinner and breakfast were really good and a lot of food was provided. You can choose between JAP or AME breakfast. They have a lot of Yuru Camp merch, and got one room with a kotatsu attached to it, so the experience was awesome. Get to Lake Motosuko stop, and make sure to take their offer to give you a ride as Koan is really far from the closest bus station. They were kind enough to offer shuttle service with their own car, to and from Koan

ItalyThe futons were not the best. The undersheet and pillow cover were new and freshly cleaned, as well as the yukata the hotel provided. But the blanket and the futon (although I am sure they washed them) were very worn off and a little stained, and had somewhat of a stale smell. I would recommend the hotel buy new ones!
The location right in front of the Lake was lovely and the staff was super kind and helpful! A lovely place immersed in nature. The breakfast was also very nice!

United StatesI could see some people complaining of "nothing to do" because its so remote. I actually view that as a plus, but just giving you a heads up, it's a lake and a view, and you'll only get lake activities if you go in the right season!
I loved the view, I loved the meals, the friendliness of the staff, and the massage chair. This is a stunning, one-of-a-kind gem of a place and will be recommending it to any of my friends who have an interest in mount Fuji.

ChinaThe room is super clean and comfy. The owners are so nice and the food is so decent, they even serve special dish. Great location to view Mt. Fuji. For anime fans, here is where Yuru Camp take place, there are full of anime elements inside the hotel, I'm really enjoyed.

FranceOutside my room was some machinery that made quite a lot of noise so I had to put earplugs at night, I felt a bit disappointed as it was in the middle of nature and I was anticipating silence.
Very nice traditional tatami room with view on Mt Fuji. Dinner and breakfast were amazing and super filling. I'm sad I can't read japanese because there's a huge manga library in the common room. With a free massage chair. I would go back again.

Splendid location for the view and Mt.Fuji, and staffs are friendly. It was a worthy experience to go to the lakeside of Lake Motosu, and enjoy the sunrise in the early morning. Note, Kouan is a must-visit spot for Yuru Camp fans to visit.

ItalyThe onsen is quite small. It's supposed to be for three people, but you need to know each other quite well to do that!
A great place where to stay near Fuji at a reasonable price. I strongly recommend the food (breakfast and dinner). The view in the morning is truly worth it, and the rooms are big (there was a kotatsu in our room too!)

Awesome experience for the family and great view of Fujisan. Great first time experience for the rural stay with family. Great collection of manga for my oldest boy. Appreciate the great support for the staff and the management to allow us to check in late as we were delay in our drive due to the unfortunate accidents on the highway.
