Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ArgentinaI found weird don’t have any lockers. I had to leave my backpack in reception when I went out. Bedbugs attack me in this hostel for first time traveling.. I guess this is a matter of lucky but just be aware of it. Showers are for pay, is not to much but I’d prefer to pay all at once and this come included in the rate.
Place is excellent but not for backpackers. Is more a place where you can go to read manga and sleep there. Staff people were excellent, all the time cleaning, helping and there for what you need.

GermanyFor more than one night I honestly can't really recommend it. You have to pay extra for showering (200¥) and they have a unnecessarily complicated system with the keys. Also you don't really have a place for your luggage.
It's a good capsule hotel if you want to stay one night after partying in Shinjuku. It's directly in the heart of the district. Staff was friendly and you get free drinks.

JapanThe access via the lift/elevator was weird and really run down. It was quite hot at night.
I had large luggage, which they kept behind reception for me whilst I slept. Very clean, and great wifi connection. The receptionist was very nice and helped me in language barrier.

United KingdomThe beds could have been a little longer for taller guys. The beds in the women's dorms were very hot in winter and we couldn't seem to control the heating. There was nowhere to safely store luggage by the bed but everyone was fine to leave their cases outside their capsule in the corridor.
Clean, comfortable, great location, friendly staff. The booths had lots of room (although the tallest people might struggle). Added bonus was free drinks and ice cream!

JapanThe way the elevator is not accessible across floors and you need to come to reception for some services is a bit inconvenient. It's also inaccessible to people with health issues.
There's no breakfast, but place is surrounded with both cheapest options (like convenience stores) and restaurants that are still open.

JapanThe layout of the place was kind of strange. You also have to pay to use the shower, but you are only allowed to pay for 30 minutes. It's not possible to pay for one whole hour, which made the showering experience pretty stressful. The hotel is on the seventh floor and once you enter to the reception you have to go down another flight of stairs to reach the capsules, but that also means when you want to pay for showering or return the key after you have to go through the Manga Cafe where many people browse the Internet or are reading manga.
The location was great, and the reception is open 24 hours.

ItalyThere is no locker for the luggage or personal items, not even a place where to leave the luggage. They make you leave everything in the corridor in front of the capsule. The shower is 200 yen each half an hour. Very uncomfortable stay.

ItalyI've traveled across Japan, and nowhere has it been as horrible as here! The staff are downright rude, unpleasant, and give out false information! I had a 20kg backpack and wanted to leave it there for a maximum of 1 hour, but that wasn't possible either! I had to pay an extra 800 yen to leave the backpack for 1 hour!! It was a hot day! The cabins were filthy and it was thin! I will write to the accommodation again personally! I'm shocked, this is not typical for Japan‼️

United StatesI have stayed at 6 capsule/hostel type stays on my trip so far, this is the first I would NOT recommend. By far the loudest bunk mates I have had, people come in and out at ALL hours. I swear we were going to have to call an emergency medical team for how loud this man was snoring, genuinely if you snore that loud you should not be allowed to sleep in common spaces. Every night that man makes it through a night of sleep is a miracle he wakes up. If you have ever laid on a thick yoga mat, that's what the bed feels like. In the photos the capsules have TVs, those have sense been removed. They charge extra for showers? Like wtf is that. The place is clean but that's about where the good things end. The pillow is actually a bean bag sized pillow, it's awful. Sure it was cheap, but knowing what I know now, it's not worth 10USD. Also every place I have stayed the wifi info is all very accessable, either posted inside your capsule or on the paperwork they give you, I never found it, I assume you had to get it from the front.

United StatesClean and good facilities. Location can’t be beat, but no luggage storage, having to pay for 30 minutes shower, having to leave the key at the hotel anytime to leave kinda makes it a chore to stay there.

GermanyIn a dirty part of Shinjuku. The staff spoke only broken English, the other customers weren’t respectfully. Had to call someone because my neighbor was talking loudly in the phone at 1 AM, that they handled pretty well even though the girl just started talking again after the staff left. Overall not such a pleasant experience

France- The quality of our sleep was mediocre... Our neighbor pleased himself at 1:30 am (the sexy magazines available didn't helped for sure), the light was always on, people walking and doing there stuffs all night long and the pillow was made of little marble... - The capsule is quite small, I am 1m86 and my feet touch the curtains and my head the end of the capsule... - There is no space close to the beds so they keep them at the lobby. It's safe because the staff is nice and keep an eye on them but not very convinient when you need to take your clothes or stuff out of your bag.
- Super clean (the staff was cleaning the share space even at 2 am) - Great localisation - Nice staff - Large shower for 200 yens - Affordable prices for Tokyo with free drink and ice-cream

JapanThe mattresses are definitely thin and if you haven't slept on a Japanese style mattress before then it can be an adjustment. Check out felt a little early and there was no place to store your luggage after check out. I think moving check out to 11am and considering a baggage storage area for after check out would be nice.
The shower and bathroom facilities were very clean. At night the entire floor was super quiet, which was very appreciated. I absolutely loved the firm pillows each capsule had. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great. I really enjoyed the drink bar and location as well.

JapanThey don't have elevators inside the hotel facility. I just hope they could provide something that it would be easy to go up and down to your room. The shower procedure hope they only a lot 30 mins and have to go up and down for the key.
I like the lobby very much. They have free drinks, ice cream and very spacious are where you can read and do some work stuff those are the things I like. The capsule pods are very comfortable and spacious capsule for my size.
