Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe lack of soundproofing and the fact that you have to be very quiet. That's to be expected though.
Everything was very stylish. The capsules were clean and spacious, we could freely sit in them. There isn't a lot of soundproofing, but everybody is really quiet, as the area is only meant for sleep, and if you turn on the conditioning in a capsule it covers all the sounds with a constant humming. The best part is the sauna, which was surprisingly hot and not crowded.

United StatesThe downside to the capsule style is that I got placed into the corner bottom capsule with little to no venteliation when the curtain is drawn, there is a small fan to cool off the capsule but mine was either broken or too week to do anything. Half way through the night I had to get up just to breathe and get fresh air into my capsule.
Stay was really good, super nice and easy to check in. Had options for both English and Japanese check in procedures. Staff were knowledgeable and you got a set of pajamas, toothbrush, slippers all for free included into your stay. The shower and the sauna are the highlight of the hotel as well as capsule rooms were as expected.

GermanyAs a person who is 1.9m (6’3“) tall, the capsule was too small. The pillow was uncomfortable. Even with earplugs I was hearing the snoring of the other guests. I was annoying that for every single small item I had to walk to the lockers. I was with a big suitcase which made the experience even more annoying.
Clean property, the sauna is a great addition, it’s always helpful to relax in there. Location is quite good - right next to JR and metro lines. Staff is friendly.

Czech RepublicThere was a space for TV in the capsule, which was taking up space from an already small amount.
It was exactly what we expected, an experience in a capsule hotel. Clean bathrooms and nice staff.

The price was good and it was very close to Ebisu train station. The next stop is Shibuya. Staffs were friendly and explained everything i wanted to know. It was my first in a capsule hotel and i should say i had a nice time.

JerseyYou have to ‘check out’ everyday at 11am and you’re not allowed to leave anything in your capsule, which was quite annoying. It wouldn’t have been so bad if the luggage room wasn’t tiny and there was space to put your suitcase out. It wouldn’t make the stay a lot better if you could leave things on your bed. I don’t see the point in changing the sheets everyday for those staying multiple nights. The pillow was also very uncomfortable - made out of weird hard beans, and the bed was pretty hard too.
The shower area was nice and spacious, you get clean towels and loungewear every day which is nice (but not at all necessary if you’re only there for a few nights).

United KingdomNo clearly laid out rules for shoes on or off in the living areas, with no lockers for shoes outside, meaning some people were walking around barefoot, and others in shoes, others in slippers. The bathrooms were generally a bit dirty, floor always wet. Pillow was very uncomfortable and full of plastic bits. The shared living area was extremely basic and very uncomfortable. More of a waiting room than anything else. In general the place seemed to want to be a proper Japanese capsule hotel, providing you with indoor clothes and slippers and kicking you out of your capsule at 11, but it didn't seem to fully commit to it, not providing anywhere pleasant to sit after 11 besides the sauna, not having a clear shoe wearing procedure, and not really explaining the rules at any point.
The location was really great. 3 minutes from Ebisu Station, 1 stop from Shibuya. Check-in was easy, no hassle. The place was broadly modern and pleasant enough to look at.

United StatesThe mattress pad I slept on was average. I would have liked an area for gathering. The price was less than a hotel but not cheap because it was a weekend
The location was close to train and bus and shopping district. Cheaper than a hotel room. For 1 night, they had what I needed.

Hong KongDon’t believe the marketing photos. I couldn’t sleep the first night due to the bright lights in the bunkbed corridor so the entire cabin was illuminated even with the half transparent screen pulled down. There is light leaking on the sides of the screen as well. I had to cover up the screen with a towel (attach it to the screen either with clips or getting it stuck into the gap of the screen on top). The showers are kinda miserable. Only 3 for everyone. Try to shower early at around 7pm. I didn’t try the sauna so can’t comment on that.
Conveniently located to the trains. Lots of food and restaurant nearby. Your bed gets made every day so this is great! Though they don’t change your bed sheets but only your pillow sheet and blanket.

GermanyMaybe the luggage area was a bit small and crowded, but what does one expect from a hotel that is optimising the use of every square centimeter?
The location is great, very central and many things to do around it. We booked this because we thought it would be fun to experience a capsule hotel, but of course, budgetwise with 4 persons one could just as well get a ´normal´hotel room in Tokyo atm. The experience was fun, the capsule clean and comfy enough, I loved the sauna and the shower area was fine too. Lots of nice places to eat around!

United KingdomYou can't stay in the hostel from 11am to 3pm. May not be critical to some people but we were really jetlagged and irritated that we couldn't sleep in. The pods were getting way too warm and stuffy during the hot days as the provided fan is very weak.
The facilities are clean, the pods get cleaned every day. The location is epic as there is a 7/11 opposite from the hostel and there is a bunch of good food spots in the area. Also, the staff is very helpful -- some of our luggage got suspended in transfer and the staff organized the delivery from the airport.

FranceThey keep the light in the capsule room switch on all night. You basically have this very white, hospital-kinda light all night long. Each capsule have curtains but there are not that thick so the light passes through a bit. They agree to switch them off a few nights but my request made them laugh, as if it was something weird for them. Even their picture was showing the lights off in the room … super annoying

United StatesThey no longer allow you to store your luggage for a few hours after check out. No common area or place to gather on same level you are sleeping on. Sleeping pad is not very thick or soft. Price paid was not a bargain but to be fair, it was a weekend night in Tokyo.
Location is near Shibuya station and Takishita street for the fashion district. Safe place to sleep and shower. Availability, even on a weekend and less cost than a hotel.
