How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The location was a bit of a pain, you had to walk through a busy shopping area to get to it, not great with our luggage. The instructions could have been better on the washer and dryer. I had to look up instructions on the internet.
This hotel was one of the nicest I have ever stayed at. I loved the little touches throughout. The amenities in the room, the comfort of the beds, our room had a washer and a dryer. (and extra things like combs, sponges, hair ties easily accessible in the lobby). The lobby area was lovely with nice views, comfortable chairs, free excellent coffee all day and sake service in the evening. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We stayed three nights and of our 12 days in Japan, I enjoyed this hotel the most.

Bed for third person was shorter than the other two beds.
Location was awesome. Amenities were great! Washer in room made it easy to pack light. Room size was decent for three.

Location was great, right next to Nishiki Market and easy walk to train station, Gion neighborhood & Yasaka Shrine, staff was very helpful and room was quite comfortable

Don't lose or leave your room card in your room at check-out. They do charge you for it. It isn't much money, like $20 CAD but they never mentioned about don't losing your room card will incur a fee.
Includes laundry machine and a mini stove for simple meals. Spacious for a hotel in Japan. Steps to bus stops and shopping street! Very clean and comfortable beds.

The room is too small for three persons.

I Loved this hotel. The rexeptionists were so welcoming and made me feel at home with my family :) I loved rhem all. The first day I got a little gift for my birthday, directions to the places I wanted to visit, printed maps, drinks. The last day directions to my subway :)))) even personal help to find the place. In a scale of one to ten I give them one hundred stars. The hotel was spotles. I frlt terrivle because I made a tea in the teapot and left yellow marks on the white and I hope it was washable. I am so grateful. Thank you to the moon and back. I will trasure my stay in this hotel in my heart.

I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. We would definitely stay there again.
The location of the hotel was ideal. Walking distance to shops and a variety of restaurants. Less than 5 minutes walk to train station. Traveling with a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids) having the laundry machine inside the rooms was a huge plus. The girls enjoyed the activities in the lobby, they looked forward every morning to spending some time in the lobby doing their dolls.

I had an excellent stay at this hotel in Kyoto. The staff was very kind and attentive, always making me feel welcome. The room was incredibly spacious – actually, the largest one I stayed in during my entire trip to Japan. It was also very well-equipped, with a washing machine and microwave inside the room, which made my stay even more convenient and comfortable. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the train station and surrounded by great restaurants and shops. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto!

I like having breakfast offered, especially when managing jet lag. But they do have coffee available all the time!
The location is great and the room was a good size. The laundry in the room was amazing and they give you detergent!

The location in the Nishiki market was the best! The rooms were wonderful for 2 people, but a little tight for 3. The coffee and tea station was so nice each morning as was the sake bar in the evening. We also really appreciated the laundry ma hives in the room.

Tons of shopping and restaurants near the hotel, short walk to nishi market. Free sake bar. Clean rooms. Fantastic staff.
