Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. United StatesStaff was not always able to answer questions and didn’t offer to seek answers when they didn’t know the answer. As foreign travelers this did not give us confidence when going to them for help. Overall the service did not meet our expectations.
Right in the middle of a very busy shopping area, yet you don’t hear it in the hotel unless the windows are open. Onsen was LOVELY! Room was stocked with everything a person could need.

AustraliaSome staff were wonderful and very helpful but the policies of hotel are not flexible at all. Eg you have to book two days in advance for bfast. There’s no option of coffee with lactose free milk. Not even soy milk. No room service. If I’m paying these prices I do expect some level of room service. No food choices available. There could be better recommendations of where to eat / go from staff. Our room was great and handy walk yo places.

United KingdomI would rate the room amenities highly, with a 10/10 score. The high-speed hair dryer, charger design, drinks in the minibar, Japanese Kimono, and other thoughtful touches demonstrated a clear dedication to customer comfort. However, I was shocked by the poor cleaning service. It was disgusting to find the carpet placed on my face towel, dust left on the bathroom shelf, and my pajamas balled up and stuffed into the alcove over the bed. This is not the level of service I expected from a Japanese hotel, let alone a luxurious one in Kyoto. It is simply unacceptable! Furthermore, it appears that your cleaning staff lack a standard operating procedure (SOP). On some days, they closed the bathroom door after cleaning, while on other days they did not. The position of the pillows also varied from day to day. It is hard to believe that this could happen in a country that invented the lean production system. I had expected Japanese hotels to excel in lean production practices, but unfortunately, this was not the case at Betttei Kamogawa. I hope that you will take my feedback seriously and address these issues to improve the service for future guests. Please let me know what steps you will take to rectify the situation. Thank you for your attention to this matter

United StatesIncredible stay - we opted for a room with a private onsen and it was totally worth it after long days at Nara and hiking Fushimi Inari. The staff was incredibly helpful and showed us all of the facilities including the foot bath on the roof. Location is perfect, between two train lines and we were able to easily travel to everywhere we wanted to go. Highly recommend Soraniwa Terrace to anyone traveling to Kyoto!
