How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Got a double room, it was a square shoebox, had other issues and manager just kept on saying so sorry but we can't help repeatedly, was a expensive mistake

Rooms were very small and not many pillows provided. Bad thing was that you had to dress up each time when you wanted to use the toilet. Breakfast was basically non existing. 2 sandwiches that had basically nothing inside.
Bathrooms have been very clean and any request that we had has been accommodated.

Very noisy you can easily hear people from other rooms, in the stairs or corridor. The last night we were even woken up at ~5am by a girl knocking on a door for an hour and apparently sleeping in the corridor. The room was full of dust, they just change the bed sheets and maybe clean the floor. On 5 places during our month trip in Japan it was our worst stay.

Very hot in the room, no every day cleaning service. Very small English skills at the reception.
Free breakfast (two hot dogs) and free dinner (instant noodles), very clean shower and place only for women to make up or shower.

Staff ask me for tax 200 yen per night I pay 400 yen for two night and included my friend. We will pay 800 yen for two night. The hotel should not charge extra money

We stayed on the 4th floor. I didn’t like that the men’s one and only shower room were only located on the basement floor. As where the women’s had two floor locations: basement and 4th. I also didn’t like that the shared men’s bathroom (shared with women’s) was only clean after the cleaners in the afternoon. It seemed like as soon as a particular group of men, from a particular country were very disrespectful with the bathroom cleanliness. They peed all over the seats and floor. It was the same with the particular women of a particular country in the women’s bathroom. They left their hair in the showers and all over the counter. It seemed before the particular group from this particular country arrived and after they left it was much cleaner. The laundry room smelled like a wet dog. Not the best ventilation.
I liked the staff, the location, the bed and pillows were comfortable. It was very quiet for a hostel. We slept soundless. Liked that they offered brown bag breakfast early in the AM. And hot coffee / tea all day long. Just wished they offered bigger cups.

Early check-in for luggage is self-serve and not very secure. Your place it in a room with everyone else's luggage.
Russian gentleman quite helpful. The suite with 2 bunks beds is large, although the toilet is in a different room than the sink/shower.

Our air con didn't work. Like it would start at cold, then constantly change to blowing air, then hot air. etc.
Breakfast was simple, but nice that they provided some for us.

The bunk bed rooms are awfully small and claustrophobic, we couldn't even open our suitcases. Quite far from the historical center, a lot of walk to reach places of interest. The shower room is in the basement, not even on your room floor...

It takes a short walk to the subway
Free breakfast Laundry Room The staff helped me move to another room, when he heard about the issue of the air conditioner, they also helped me keep the lost wallet.

The twin room is EXTREMELY small, if you have more than one luggage it will be a struggle to fit there. There is barely any space to open up your luggage. The reading light on my bunk was difficult to turn on and made a piercing noise when it finally turned on.
The women’s shared bathroom is very nice and clean. There was mold on the vent above the top bunk, but it was cleaned after we informed the staff.
