Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe room sadly smelled mouldy and I think they don't change the air enough in there.. Or it is not booked often enough.. Careful! You can only reach this hotel nicely by car or by taxi. Publics is a bit of a hustle. We had a car so it was super fine for us :) Staff did not properly speak English - language barrier! Breakfast was okish. Get outside food to properly enjoy Japanese cuisine.
We had the room for 4 people with private open-air Onsen. My partner and me completely filled the stone tub of the Onsen (so we count as 4 persons now :D ) but it was amazing to have it outside. The water was so relaxing and it was such a private experience. (Most public Onsens are gender separated.) Foutons were really comfortable, AC and heating was all working splendidly! Room super clean.

United StatesThere wasn't anything to not like.
We picked this place because each room had it own private bath option in addition to the public bath option. It did not disappoint. I wish that we had arrived earlier to enjoy the facilities more. The location is tucked away right near Mt. Fuji and near the main street where you can great pictures! We really enjoyed the onsen and the traditional style of sleeping arrangements. We would stay at this place again if we were to come back. And the breakfast was really delicious as well!

CanadaWhile the staff provided bug spray in the bungalow, as foreigners we weren’t prepared to know what type of insects we’d experience while staying in the bungalow. While this isn’t the responsibility of the staff, it would have been helpful to have a document listing common insects in addition to providing the spray.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful during our stay. The facilities were very clean and our bungalow had everything we needed. The staff provided a lot of written instructions on how to use various appliances and amenities which was also very thoughtful.

LithuaniaIt was not fully soundproofed and you could hear what was going on in the hallways. However, the guest were rather quite and it was still rather cozy. The breakfast was modest and did not include many vegan options.
I was a fun to get a ryokan experience, wear a yukata and sleep on a futon.

Portugalwe just had a spider on our bungalow, but it is a normal thing. We really appreciated our stay.
The staff is really helpful and we really enjoy our stay mainly because of it. The breakfast is simple but very nice. The table tennis table and the Onsen are really a must. I would definitely recommend it. And if you are planning to climb Mt. Fuji when you are there, they will give a lot of informations and the staff has good knowledge about the climbing.

AustraliaThe only thing was that the top shelf in the bedroom was really dusty and when putting our bags/clothes up top they got marked with dust, but it wasn’t a big deal.
The beds and pillows were the most comfortable of our whole holiday - and the outdoor bath was such a highlight for the evenings. Check in and check out was easy and seamless, and the staff were very informative. Close to many restaurants, 7 eleven and a huge supermarket, would definitely come back!

United StatesIt's not as accessible as it seems on Google map's Atleast not walking, especially if you have a lot of luggage. I would recommend just getting a taxi from whichever station you touch down at. kawaguchiko station & mt.fuji station are both a quick and short ride from the villa. The front desk will also kindly order you a taxi for any local adventures when requested.
We like the cabin in the woods feel & the open air bath attached to our room was a cute relaxing set up. Great way to unwind after a long day of walking & exploring. When it got too cold outside the bathhouse in the Main building was a great alternative, especially since you can reserve the space for private use during available time slots. It's also relatively close to popular attractions such as fuji Q highland which is practically across the street. However the entrance is on the far side of where your staying. Lake kawaguchiko is also super close as well. We avoided the overly crowded local buses and got to where we wanted to visit fairly quickly and inexpensive via taxi mostly. The time saved was well worth it. There are a couple of okay food options near by on the main street via a very short walk. Also, Don Q is a hop and a skip away just encase you forgot or need something simple. We definitely appreciated that they had a laundry machine on site since we were half ways through our 2 week adventures and it was time to replenish everything.

AustraliaThe walls were very thin, so I could hear lots of noise coming from the villa next door.
The villa was located in a lovely bushy area on the edge of Fujiyoshida, but was only a short 5 minute walk to the free shuttle to Kawaguchiko Station. There were many choices of places to eat also within a short walk of the villa.
