Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandI had a single room. There was a foyer that lead to my room and the communal downstairs toilet. The door to the room had a glass pan between the door frame and ceiling, so that every time someone went to the toilet at nighttime light would shine into my room and wake me up. Half way through my stay I removed the foyer light bulb, replacing it when I left and providing the suggestion they put a piece of card over the glass (since the room was light and airy enough. There is a skyscraper getting built across the road, so construction noise from 7am to 6pm. Although this didn't affect my stay.
Very safe. Hostel is location in a safe area of Nairobi with schools and embassys.. They have the front gate locked all the time and there is someone there 24 hrs a day including a night guard. Large very noice room and common areas, helpful staff.. Supermarket about 500m away. Crafty camelon brewery garden bar with music on sundays about 2.5km away (220 KES in uber) very nice. This hostel is a good safe base in Nairobi.

MalaysiaOnly 1 soft pillow was provided. Should have provided 2 pillows instead. Water controlled by pump to be switched on by Fred, manager early morning. Mosquitoes after dark, so shut all windows . Some bed bugs either on mattress or wooden bed. Should air room often.
2nd gate to the right. No Signage ourside. Booked the only double ensuite room. King size bed. Mattress was firm. Hot showers anytime by switching on water heater. Can get chilly after sunset for Asians. Nice large kitchen, gas stove to cook, kettle, mugs, microwave, laundry area to dry clothes. Service of getting clothes washed provided. Safari trips can be booked too. Large sitting and dining area - indoor and outdoor. Overlook at garden. Use the mosquito netting when sleeping. Uber can find location. Safe quiet location. Walk 5 mins to Quick Mart for grocery or food.

JapanThe cleaning especially around the bathrooms/showers could be improved. The doors are quite old and hard to close, therefore it makes a loud noise when opening and closing.
This was our second time staying here as it was very comfortable. The hostel is in a great and secure location tucked away from the Main Street. There is a large supermarket in walking distance. The staff are all kind and very helpful. They have a large selection of books and the vibes are very home-like/chill. The dormitory beds fit the 2 of us comfortably and so we only paid for 1 bed which made it more cost effective. The lockers were big enough to fit our day packs plus more.

United KingdomLocation means long walks or ubers to get to most places you might want to visit. Getting in or out often involves waiting for the gate to be unlocked (but this is fast & does make me feel confident about safety). Limited bathrooms (with 1 rarely warm shower) was fine with so few people staying there in April, but would be annoying at peak times with all the rooms full.
Relaxed space- exactly what I needed to get some focussed work done on a research project. In low season I was able to get a 4 bed room to myself or shared with 1 other over a week. Kitchen was always clean and organised. Staff friendly. If you want to meet people & explore Nairobi, this may not be the hostel for you. If you want a comfortable & homely base for a while, it is perfect.

UkraineI really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It was very quiet and peaceful, with a perfect location and great internet connection. For an extra fee, you can do your laundry, and the washing machine works very well. Fred truly won my heart with his openness and sincerity. There are plenty of common areas for both work and relaxation, which I really appreciated. What I would improve: it will be nice to have more mosquito nets on the windows or around the beds. Also, I would love to see a bit more variety at breakfast. Currently, it’s bread, margarine, two slices of watermelon, Kenyan porridge, and coffee or tea.

NetherlandsBreakfast is nice but it was very simple, it could be a bit more elaborate.
Really lovely hostel, most comfortable dorm bed I think I've ever seen. The private room (that we used a separate time) is also great. We came back several times and we would come back again here if we would go back to Nairobi! The owner is also really nice and helpful.

United KingdomNo mosquito nets (there are plenty of mosquitoes). The main hot water tank buzzes quite loudly until late because people forget to switch it off. One shower for 3 or 4 dorms. Also, it being a hostel, it's still prone to people being people
I think I spent a total of 10 or 11 nights here between dorm and private (when I could get it). Communal space is lovely. Nice living room and outdoor area. Staff are great. I met lots of great people here. Dorm beds are comfy. I used as my Nairobi base for various excursions and could leave some luggage there. It's close to a good supermarket. The area is quite safe.

IndonesiaOn day three when I came here, the hot water was broken down
I finally chose this hostel to stay because some Japanese reviewers said that this place is so clean. And, that's true. Unlike many hostels I have stayed before, the library hostel is so quiet and comfy. Perfect place for some digital nomads who want a place to work without so much distraction. I love this place, the bed is spacious. The location is also close to quickmart supermarket to buy daily needs. My Uber driver asked me when he dropped me in front of this place, why this house was called “library”? And I don't know exactly the answer but I just tell him that the owners love to read and there are so many books inside.
