The location is walking distance to the beach (15 minutes) and also isolated perfectly in the quiet jungle from the main area of Mirissa. The owners of the bakery are delightful and accommodating to needs with quick response, they also run an operational bakery from the guest house which is a delicious start to the day! I will return there when I go back to Sri Lanka.

    Nothing

As has been mentioned by numerous previous reviewers, the whole family are some of the nicest people you could wish to meet and nothing was too much trouble for them. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here, which we did extend slightly and were sorry to leave this morning. We are already missing the fresh home made bread they provided as part of the breakfast each morning. This accommodation is the type of accommodation you would be happy to spend time at even if the weather was not too good. Some of the rooms have a small balcony area outside overlooking a garden setting each, with a hammock outside which I thought was a nice touch. The accommodation is perfectly adequate and comfortable for the price bracket. Do not hesitate to book you won't regret it.

Bakery Family guesthouse is one of the best places to stay in Mirissa. Modisha, Nishente, and the kids are very caring and welcoming. The breakfast is made with love, especially the homemade bread from their bakery. Prices are very reasonable and the rooms are well equipped, surrounded by different kinds of fruit trees and a calm chilling area. A shared kitchen is also available for the guests. Bike rental is very reasonable in the guesthouse. The guesthouse is 3/5 min away by bike from the beach and touristic area. We are definitely coming back ☺️ Istuti 🙏🏽

Nothing - even without AC the rooms were cool and we slept really well.

We had a lovely stay at this guesthouse, it’s a bit out of town which is nice as you can get away from the noise and traffic of Mirissa, you are surrounded by nature and can really relax. We felt so welcomed and at home here, it’s was one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka. The breakfast is yummy and our bed was very big and comfortable. The best thing though was the kindness of the family providing the guesthouse, they truly couldn’t do enough to help us. We will be back!!

The owners were incredibly welcoming and truly made us feel at home. The breakfasts were amazing—fresh bread from their bakery every morning, along with a fruits and omelette. When I mentioned that I love ginger, Modisha even bought me some ginger cookies to try, which was such a special touch. The guest house was very clean, and the atmosphere was peaceful, which we really appreciated. They also offer laundry services and bike rental. As for the minor downsides, there is no hot water, and we did notice a few ants in the bathroom, but it didn’t bother us at all. It’s a bit further from the center, but the quiet surroundings make up for it. Overall, we were really happy with our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Mirissa.

the family was very, very nice and friendly. the rooms are great for the price. you woke up with a view of the rice fields. the breakfast was also good. if you want you can also order rice and curry. the family always took the guests into consideration when cleaning the garden in the morning. that was very pleasant. thank you Ishani and family for the hospitality. p.s. the bread (achu pan) that was made in the bakery was the best I ate in Sri Lanka.🙏❤

As in many places there was no hot water, but we were comfortable without it. Since the accommodation is near the road, sometimes at 6 am it is noisy. And these are small negatives. There are no other negative aspects.

My wife and I arrived late in the evening tired, we were given a snack with tea. Modisha and her family are very hospitable. The main value is the relationship between people. All family is great! The price and quality of the accommodation is good. The family always participated in solving the necessary issues. Breakfast was included: their own bread, jam, butter, tea or coffee, fried eggs, fruit salad. There was enough of everything. We also bought dinner from the family, it was excellent. There was one kitchen for all the rooms. There is a fan in the room for cooling, it was enough for us. There is a mosquito net on the bed, but the mosquitoes did not attack. The disadvantages in our case were not very significant.

The bed was large but very hard. The bathroom very basic…no hot water but you get used to it. Although off the beaten track the road is still quite noisy and the sounds of nature can keep you awake. Bring earplugs.

The family running the guest house were so welcoming and friendly. Helpful with anything you need. We enjoyed the breakfast of homemade bread items and yummy fruit salad. The guesthouse is away from the busy tourist area and has a nice garden area to relax in opposite the rice paddy fields. There are peacocks and many other birds around…we even spotted a bird of paradise. Within walking distance to other shops and restaurants. A little far from the beach but we had our own tuk tuk and the guesthouse has bikes and scooters to rent.

    Nothing to complain.

To stay with the family of the bakery guest house was our highlight of Mirissa. I highly recommend everyone, to stay there. The location within the rice fields is beautiful and I was happy, we didn't stay in Mirissa center. Modisha is a lovely lady and so the whole family.

We stayed in one of he older rooms and although ok for the price the bed wasn't so comfortable. We missed having a hammock or views of the rice fields like the other rooms. Only slight negatives though as we enjoyed our stay.

Really nice, quiet location next to rice fields away from the busy centre. We felt very much at home here and felt very welcomed by the lovely family. The breakfast was the best we've had the Sri Lanka.....their bakery bread is so tasty and it's worth staying here just for that! We rented a scooter here and it was much cheaper than other places. We also became really fond of Mango the dog who would sleep outside our room :-)

    All was great

I loved this very friendly guesthouse back away from the busy beachside, tucked into a local area an easy 20 minute walk from beaches and restaurants. The rooms were a good size, comfortable with front patios looking out to green fields and the occasional peacock, with plentiful sounds of birds and friendly dogs. Breakfast was also very good.

Stayed here for 8 days and wish we had booked longer. Great location around nature, the family were so sweet and really looked after us. Very convenient bike hire which made it very easy to explore the area. Room was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious ( their home made bread was the best we had in Sri Lanka) Loved seeing the monkeys , peacocks , chipmunks and bird life while eating breakfast ! Not to forget Mango the dog who was very friendly !

Without a scooter it’s a little walk to the beach, but worth it when you search for a quite place that you can have for your own.

The guesthouse is just in between the rice paddys, it is really quite and during the night you can hear the frogs and see fireflies everywhere. The room was very tidy and clean and there is everything you need. There even is a closet and you get a towel. First I booked 2 nights and I ended up staying for a week, because it was so nice to have a break from the loud, touristy areas. After a week I felt like part of the family, because Modisha and her Husband were so welcoming and friendly they even invited me to have dinner with them. There is a kitchen you can use and also the washing machine is free of charge.

It was a little bit far away from the beach, but it was walkable. There is lot of tuk tuks driving along that road, so you can catch tuk tuk if you cannot walk. At that time, I was only guest, so I felt little bit lonely first night. Mom said I can call to her if I need company and she can come to talk with me if needed, that was super-nice.

Good bed, good pillow. It was like countryside, which I like. Family were super nice. Breakfast included, Omelet, fruits and fresh bread. Family gave good advices for my next trip and gave me a ride with tuk tuk to the bus stop next morning where I continued my trip. There is a little market and kiosks when you start to walk to the left, I bought from there SIM card very reasonable price.

The owners are absolutely wonderful. I booked for 7 days and ended up staying 14. I had a desk overlooking the rice fields, palm trees and their other tropical plants. There is a table and chairs to sit and watch nature on your doorstep. It’s quiet. Just the sound of crickets. The rooms are big with a large comfortable bed and clean mattress. A wardrobe and rack for clothes. The shower room is huge. The owners gave me a kettle. And extra table and chairs. They run a bakery from home and showed me the oven and bread making facilities. The kindness of this family shows the spirit of Sri Lanka at its best. Warm hearted, generous, genuine, welcoming. The best place I stayed in Sri Lanka. The location is superb. Away from the noise of town but close enough to get there in 10 mins by foot. And loads of tuk tuks at all times if needed. A few little local shops next door for basic needs.

Most amazing host I had ever seen! They are a lovely family with a traditional wooden bakery business, I also got to taste the freshly baked bread, that was FANTASTIC! They provided passion fruit juice, lifted me to the beaches and I felt almost like a family member! Bakery family guest house, you surely want to choose them if you’re visiting Mirrisa!
