Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomStaff were surly and unhelpful Kettle leaked and on reporting this the member of staff seemed very put out and seemed to imply that he had better things to do. The kettle was not replaced When paying for a meal the surly waitress seemed annoyed at having to let me off €0.15 simply because I had no change, neither did she clearly. Would never return, fortunately we were there for only 1 night. Food was very mediocre. Finally the shower was completely useless. Attempted to have a shower at 2000, there was no hot water
Excellent for access to Mdina

GermanyWe have absolutely nothing to complain.
Everything was just perfect. Huge room with view on ver the countryside and very friendly staff. We enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace and were treated like queens by everyone on the hotel. Free parking is available at the point the vue main parking, but you should tip the guy overseeing it because he is really nice. Mdina and Rabat are only a few walking minutes away.

The location of this charming hotel is unparalleled. Right in front of Mdina Gate and a bus stop which we used to travel all round Malta. For ease of transport and access, it has a better location than the hotels inside the Mdina, in my view. The room was comfortably large with high ceilings and a balcony with spectacular views. The bathroom was clean and modern, and the A/C was powerful - a lift saver in the middle of the heatwave! I mustn't neglect to mention the hotel restaurant - great food! and guests benefit from a further 20% discount. The hotel and restaurant staff were great too. In particular, Marisa was most helpful and lovely to deal with. Thank you for a lovely stay!

United StatesThis Guesthouse is a modernized historical 17th century mansion. There is a hall for gatherings that has a marvelous view, it is decorated with photos of WW2 RAF pilots that stayed at this place. You can see remnants of bullet holes in the lobby area from WW2 era. You will be located just across the entrance of the walled city of Rabat. The guesthouse has a nice restaurant at the front, they offer breakfast in the morning. Also you will find ample space to park your car in front of the restaurant. The rooms are simple but functional, nice bathroom and clean. The beds are comfortable. Nice touch was the chandelier in the room. Staff was very friendly and informative, specially Marisa. Wish we could have had more days to stay here.

IrelandThe room was tiny. We were told that it was normally only given to guests who book through Booking.com and who stay for one night. There was not enough room to open our bags on the floor beside the bed. There are stairs in the room too. In the morning we had no hot water in the shower - not the temperature, literally nothing came out of the hot tap. The manageress told us that was 'unfortunate'.
The staff in the bar were friendly. The location is great - just opposite the gates to Mdina. There is parking nearby but it can be hard to find a spot!

PolandI really regret that I couldn't stay there longer. Marisa and the whole staff made this place really special. Everything: the service, beautiful room, food, localisation in the neighbourhood of Mdina - is on the highest possible level. I fully recommend this place and will definitely come back! Thank you Marisa.

Ukraineold, small, balcony goes out to car park
the location is great, but I If I were to plan my trip again I would book a nicer hotel for this money elsewhere on Malta as it’s easy to commute to Mdina and there is not much to see for an overnight stay. the hotel room I was in was small, basic and old. the breakfast was nice in the morning.

United KingdomIt's not easy to find a place to stay in Malta without compromising a little. But this hotel has an atmospheric location at the gate of old Mdina, with wonderful views over the island. Green spaces are nearby. Mdina itself is centrally located and perfect for exploring the rugged and less-crowded south coast by car. And the hotel has an (admittedly less atmospheric) large public car park right outside (but this is important in Malta given the challenges in finding a car park - even here its challenging to find a park during working hours.) The hotel itself is a charming old building (loved the Maltese balconies), comfortable, good bathrooms etc. Staff went to a lot of trouble to ensure comfort. Thank you. A place to come back to. The single room was large, very good value and very comfortable, but it does look out into a light well, so I upgraded to a room with a view for the second night. Well worth it. Lots of cable channels as well, if that's your thing. Nice terrace (looking out on to the main square, the Mdina gate and of course the car park- not half as bad as it sounds - really!

Very nice housing, amazing location, 2 minutes away from the Mdina Gate. 1 minute away from bus stop. Nice view. The rooms were very clean, comfortable beds. Every day we found a bottle of water for every person in the room, which was very nice, especially in those evenings when we forgot to buy ourselves water. The breakfast was very good, and it offered a good variety. Good coffee, and the staff was very kind.
