Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MalaysiaThe location was set away from the noise of the main street, up the hill, surrounded by jungle so you get a lovely relaxed stay...we could see monkeys swinging and jumping from tree to tree in the morning. Breakfast was really tasty and Dean and his co-worker were always helpful in providing us assistance on car and bike rental options. The staff were clear that if we needed anything then to please ask them. We had the family room and the beds are very clean and comfortable. Great location, great staff and we will definitely be visiting Utan Teluk Nipah in the future 😀

A very nice place to stay on Pangkor island. Do not expect 5 star luxury, however expect the feeling that you are in the rainforest and still at less than 5 mins walking distance to great beaches. Super friendly staff that helps you with any question to make your stay unforgettable.

MalaysiaIt had many steps to access each unit. May not be so suitable for older & disabled folk who will require a lot of assistance & the very steep road at the top of the property to access the beach & restaurants.
It was located on the hill & surrounded by nature. We took a unit with balcony which had a lovely view of the jungle & monkeys too. They can come up right to the unit if you so decide to feed them. Din & his team were very accommodating in helping us navigate our way because we had 2 older folk in our group & the property has many steps. The units are clean & have a very rustic feel to them.

MalaysiaWe did request for the hotel's first aid kit as my friend had a fall- the hotel should replace old medication and have the basics. Otherwise no complaints!
We loved our short getaway at Nipah! Surrounded by nature in comfortable wooden chalets. Be prepared to hike up to the hotel and breakfast, it was not a problem for us as we were well informed by the staff. The room was comfortable and clean , bathroom basic but with ample hot water (no issue with mosquitoes for us). Breakfast was basic but adequate (major points for having a water filter with hot & cold water available all day). Be careful carrying food back to your room , as there are monkeys about (secure your food items in a zipped back and be vigilant!).

AustraliaI think there could have been more variety with breakfast especially with fruit as I stayed for 5 nights so it was quite repetitive by the end of my stay to have watermelon everyday. There isn't much I did not like about staying at Utan. I wanted a quiet stay, close to nature yet close to the beach and I got exactly that and a little more.
Most of all I enjoyed the back to nature aspect of the accommodation - simple, natural and I felt I was in the treetops. I cannot emphasise this enough. There is a lot of wildlife in the rainforest next to the property and while I know they are on land not part of the property, it is especially unique to have this experience. Just be aware of the cheeky monkeys who have no idea of boundaries and will come on the balcony without warning to take food. Be warned not to leave any food unattended on the balcony! I noticed there were resident hornbill too and I was concerned that they were being fed as this is probably not a good practice for the wildlife. It was good to see them in healthy numbers in Pangkor. In terms of the room, it was very basically furnished yet had a warm touch of the mosquito netting and very comfortable bedding. The staff were attentive and friendly, and provided me with a different reclining chair when I had asked for cushions for the balcony chairs. I appreciated the flexibility of management to allow me to extend my check out by an hour as I had a late flight. I also was very aware that the property is located on a hill accessible only via a steep hill. The taxi actually dropped me and my luggage at the rear entrance; still very steep to walk up either way. I appreciated that I already knew this before I booked the hotel. This would be an issue for anyone with mobility issues because not only is it the access to the property, there are also a lot of steep irregular steps on the property itself. Consider it a good way to get fit during your stay if you can get here.

BelgiumWe liked almost everything. There were minor things that could be improvements, such as a chair in the rooms to sit down in, better wifi coverage and a few more clothing hangers would have been great. For tall people such as my friend Stijn (1m94) the bed might be a bit on the small end.
The staff was VERY accomodating, asking if everything was alright and helping us with ordering a taxi or renting bikes, replenishing items such as extra towels, etc.. they deserve a huge +. We also liked the breakfast (between 8h and 10h). The beds were great and the swimming pool is also a +. We also had access to clean drinking water at all times, refillable at the breakfast area.

ItalyThe blue stuff coming off the swimming pool walls, that other people complained about in previous reviews, is still there. We don't really care about the TV, but if you put one in the room I would expect more than 3 channels

MalaysiaI think breakfast could be slightly different every day instead of repeating the same food as yesterday, for example, you can make it like today's main food is nasi lemak, while tomorrow's main food is fried noodles etc
I like the environment and the vibes of the chalet. It actually gives me a sense of peace, quiet and comfort haha🥰

DenmarkIt might be a bit difficult to walk up to the property if you are elderly or otherwise in weakened health.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. The bungalow was cozy and all the facilities were in order - small clean swimming pool is also nice and sufficient for two. Breakfast was good with even a bit of variation :) There are monkeys and interesting birds all around you when staying here. It adds to a certain charm.
