How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Rest Up Kathmandu has the best supporting staff out of the 4 hotels I stayed across Nepal during my trip. Special call out to Sandesh who helped arrange the most economical rides not through collaboration with travel agents but from his personal ride booking app. Special thanks to the young chef upstairs who is always ready to help and with a smile.

The staff was incrediby nice and gave excellent tips where to eat well. Also one of the few places we've stayed at with good water pressure hot shower which was appreciaed after a long trek.

Would be nice if they could work on the smell that keeps coming up in the bathroom… Facilities a bit old. Felt a bit pressured to join the tours.
Welcoming. Good value. Spacious room. Nice little garden view. Helpful staff answering all sorts of questions. Near the shopping areas.

I liked the rooftop communal area, a great place to meet other travellers, have drinks and exchange advice. Staff gave great advice re: solo trekking and were never trying to sell me something. I had my own room, it was very comfortable and the WiFi 10/10.

This hostel is really welcoming and confortable, the staff is always nice and available ! Special mention for the rooftop with his delightful hammocks and tasty black tea ! Prakash and Pramod Khanal can guide you as they did with our group from the hostel to a trekking expedition in the Annapurna region, they are very nice and it was a flawless experience !

We had a triple with own bathroom. Staff was super nice, helpful and friendly. They work very hard, most of them long hours every day, still manage to smile at you. Upstairs they have two stories of social area witch couches and hammocks

the hostel is nice, but the true added value is the staff. they helped me planned my trip, advising me for a trekking on the Annapurna Circuit, one of the best experience in my life. I have to say thanks above all to Prakash, who was my guide during the trekking and helped me every time I need. Couldn’t ask for better guide!

Some of the rooms had an odd smell. Nothing to through you off though.
The staff was so friendly and helpful, supporting us in curating the best Nepal experience we could get in our short stay. The location is also great and you have to check out the roof top!

Lovely place to stay and chill This hostel is a nice and clean place, with a comfortable bed and kind staff, Thank you Mr Prakash to make our stay fabulous, he also organises the Kathmandu city tour and small hiking to Chisapani Nagarkot ( we saw a beautiful mountain view 🌅 with sunrise 🌅 ) I'm 100% suggest this place.

The bar at the rooftop “closed” sometimes at 10pm off-season so not a super party hostel (good for us) ;-) maybe because everyone goes on early hikes. no problem to bring own booze though.
super friendly staff. The worker that picked us up at the airport greeted us with a big smile even though he waited 1,5hrs for our delay. super nice rooftop we hang out every evening. Also they offer very nice trekking and hiking tours with proficient guides. Gopi managed everything for us prior to arrival and Prakash gave us a super nice planning for our stay on top (when to do what and where). Thanks guys!!
