The bed was a bit too soft. I guess the price in the national park is on the high side!

A good experience in the wild. Even it's a small unit, it kept the heat intact. The unit is quite well equipped. (Anything like this is better than camping in the cold)

Beautiful location in a majestic mountain valley. Cute little hut along with a few other huts at this location. Felt very private and secluded though! The pot belly fire was great - hubby enjoyed making the fire and it kept the hut very warm. Kitchen facilities were basic but definitely did the job! Air fryer a bonus. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of warm blankets etc along with electric blankets. Although it is a remote location, the directions from Gary were very thorough and we found the place no problem. Lots of wonderful walks in the area.

I really enjoyed the cosy cabin, it was fun and different. I loved the wood stove and the well equiped kitchen. In the cosy cabin there are just three single beds so just keep that in mind. Also be aware you are near the road and the railway line, but there are not many cars or trains, so I had no problem with that at all. It has a great view down the valley.

The property was exactly as we expected but would have loved some comfy chair/s to sit on outside but we made do 👍

Location and being in the National Park. Wasn’t cold enough to put on the fire but would have added to the ambiance of this quaint basic cabin.

Bring repellent, sandflies in summer may be rather annoying. Also it may be noise from trains for those who are light sleepers (we were absolute ok with it, doesn't disturb much, but adding the mood of travelling)

Nice place to stay, granny's house vibes with cozy room, nature around and vintage chimney. Unexpectedly well-equipped kitchen allows to cook everything, beds are comfortable, shower with a hot water, everything you need for an escape from the city. National park around and plenty of birds and trees is a nice bonus. The host responses very fast and provide extended instructions for self check-in and living there.

We hate lock boxes. They are almost always unfamiliar and difficult to deal with. However in this location I understand they are the only option. I was expecting trains! None went by, was looking forward to them!

Unpretentious and exactly as advertised. Would recommend to any who just want basics and no frills. Excellent communication from hosts.

Kitchen equipment/utensils could use some refreshing. No kitchen towel available to handle hot oven tray. Toilet was too cold to comfortably use in early November, even with hot water.

Affordable, good location, close to nature, beds and toilets were clean. The fireplace and chopping firewood was an interesting experience.

The single bed had 3 heavy cotton quilts, too heavy to sleep under. A duvet would be more comfortable

A very basic old hut, has been tidied up and painted, has everything you need- microwave, air fryer, stove, kitchen utensils, table, chairs. It has the best pot belly wood stove and this makes the cabin very warm and cosy. And also great for cooking on. It was very comfortable. When compared to the price of other cabins it is expensive, but represents reasonable value for accommodation at Arthurs Pass, as accommodation in this area is also very expensive

Excellent clean, cosy and well equipped hut with a great fire to keep you warm. We love the rustic experience in the middle of the beautiful scenic Southern Alps. Perfect stop over for us. And, Gary was incredibly helpful (via phone) helping us out with a vehicle issue we had. A+++

In all honestly the hut was everything we needed, so we have no complaints. It was warm, well equipped and there was plenty of firewood and an axe for kindling.

The relative isolation, being amidst the beautiful vertical mountains that held you in their palms. The woodburner that warmed your bones with the aroma of dry popping pine cones. Early in the morning there was a deep silence and the silhouette of the mountains remained saturated in cloud. The cabin which was exactly as advertised, everything you need though a necessary secondary to the real purpose of the place: To be seduced and liberated for a time by nature. Our family loved the experience and will be back.
