Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

QatarLiterally everything at the island is VERY overpriced. The restaurants are beyond disappointing, three ( absolutely awful ) dishes at q lounge were over 600 riyals and the food was literally inedible, we were starving and couldn’t even pretend to like the food or attempt eating it. Teds was nice but considering that I paid about 1300 for a bunch of burgers for a family of 5, absolutely ridiculous. You’re not allowed to order and receive it yourself from the port which is absurd because the food inside was basically “ you’re trapped here you either eat at our extremely overpriced restaurants that might be nowhere near edible or starve until check-out “. Other than restaurants, there was no grocery shop or mini market that you can get snacks or any necessities from, either get the 40 riyals little can of Pringle’s in the minibar, 45 riyals pack of m&ms, or the 50 riyals can of freez. Oh, and if you get a headache from all that unnecessary overpricing? Don’t worry, there is a little pharmacy that you can get a panadol from for A HUNDRED RIYALS. The room amenities were awful. i’m talking no PHONE in the room, the tv is thankfully not in black and white but it wouldn’t matter because it’s not functioning anyways, half the buttons and switches were faulty ( you need to basically turn the light off so it switches on ), breakfast had very limited choices and the food was cold and half the trays were empty. the ”watersports center” was literally just a dude vibing in his own world and would probably let you wait for a couple of minutes until he tells his girlfriend on Meet ( video call ) to wait so he can tell you there is no watersports rentable right now ( even though all of them are literally parked right behind you ) After all this drama, you just want to wind down and soak in a nice warm bubble bath and enjoy the quiet right? WRONG. The heater or whatever that was, had this extremely loud and sharp noise that lasted about TWENTY MINUTES.
The butlers are super responsive and very polite, the staff are very welcoming and helpful, all the employees were the highlight of the stay 👍

Saudi Arabia- a beach front villa without access to the beach if this what you looking for its not gonna happen don't be fooled by photos if you zoom in you will see in some of them the fence and rocks after -alot of restaurants but below average taste - room size is not real almost half of it is bathroom so if you have one kid with extra bed you cant walk in the room - very stingyin providing bathroom tools so you need to handle having one small bottle of shampoo, shower gel , few napkins , two towels even that we keep writing a note for house keeping of our needs the ignore adding most of them
-variety of activities - most of the staff are friendly and helpful

KuwaitOur stay at banana island was supposed to be a relaxing trip during the eid holidays quickly turned extremely stressful. During our stay the staff seemed inadequate in handling the crowds that were expected to stay on the island during eid. We constantly felt like we had to beg to be served which is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel and for the price you are paying. We had to ask for coffee 5 times during the breakfast buffet to eventually be served. Whenever we called a buggy to be transported one was never sent or was very late that we ended up walking. Housekeeping is really something else we called housekeeping ourselves and also told our villa host to clean our room and vacated the room for 3 hours after coming back the room was not cleaned. We were not able to enjoy the private pool in our room due to this issue. After addressing my concern to the manager about these issues nothing was done as we left our room from 5pm to 10pm housekeeping has not come for turndown service as we were promised by the housekeeping staff which is pathetic and embarrassing for a 5 star hotel not having the room cleaned. Oh i might mention when the housekeeping staff finally arrived the bed was made with stained sheets. As a compensation the manager offered breakfast in the villa on our final day before checkout but its pathetic as we already paid for the breakfast buffet not really a compensation might I say. The stay here at banana island was extremely stressful although the facilities were nice and there was lots of things to do the hotel should really fix their staff especially the housekeeping department because when paying over a 1000 USD a night for a room I shouldn’t be begging the staff to come clean the room.

If you hope that it would be Qatar Maldives (as we did), you should refuse this idea. If the beach is not one of the most important thing for you, you can enjoy staying at the hotel

Saudi ArabiaBanana Island is absolutely beautiful. The views are stunning and it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which we really appreciated. However, the prices for services and activities on the island are way too high. Everything felt overpriced compared to what you get in return. The most serious issue we faced was with the food. Unfortunately, my family and I suffered from severe food poisoning after eating at one of the restaurants on the island. We had to be taken to the hospital, and it completely ruined our trip. My honest advice: bring your own food with you and just enjoy the beauty of the island. It’s a wonderful place, but be very careful with the dining options.

QatarThe elevator and the room had a humid rotten smell, i had to call 4 times and wait 50 mins at the room to checkout and at the end left the room and kept the luggage for the staff to pick as no one showed up. While at Q lounge restaurant, Mr Shakil was amazing with his service. The shisha is really good as well.

PortugalStarting from the bookings for the boats that you need to do apart from no one tells you, the resort looks everything but not a 5 starts hotel like it suppose to be and charged as such.
The structure of the island is great, the beach its ok, but the staff, especially Sutthinan from reception make all the difference for her sympathy and professionalism, saving our stay.

QatarIt is not my first time at Banana island but it was horrible experience that I don't intend to repeat. I arrived to the boat port as requested by staff to take the 1 am boat but kept waiting till 2:30 pm and stayed around 30 mnts in the boat waiting. I arrived at 3:10 pm which is my check in time but the room was not ready and been directed to The Ted’s restaurant. Till 4:20pm I waited there and checked in around 4:30pm. They gave me late check out due to that. I was surprised in the morning as my daughter and her friends told me they showered in cold water as there was no hot water there. The staff I have to say we're the nicest only the security at the boat as rude as he made us wait in the sun before getting into the boat due to one of there reception staff took my car ticket by mistake when I arrived at the reception. After that when I finally arrived at the port, I discovered they lost my car key which I kept waiting for around an hour.I believe the best experience in the whole thing was my villa butler as he was very kind and nice and the restaurants as they were delicious .

LebanonHaving the activities as paid activities instead of part of the resort experience, separating men from women at the spa is not good especially when couples come here to enjoy and have quality time together.
The staff are amazing, taking initiative to do things great for the guests especially Bassam and Chona (what she did for my husbands birthday was super beautiful).. the rooms are spacious and beautiful, the greenery of the place overall and the Indian food at Q lounge!

SwitzerlandPoor Outdoor Design: Villas with private pools lacked privacy and ambiance, bordered by fences and artificial grass that diminished the advertised dream of oceanfront luxury. Traffic on the Island: The single road shared by electric service vehicles and guests was chaotic, uncomfortable, and even dangerous - especially for families with small children. Whose idea was this? It’s both naïve and poorly thought out. Just look at how the Maldives has operated for decades: all the best hotels separate tourist and staff roads for seamless, safe movement. Combining everyone on one path is not only inconvenient but downright inefficient for a luxury resort. Management Issues: The lack of clear direction and frequent staff changes contributed to inconsistent service and a sense of disorganization throughout the resort. Cultural Disconnect: The overall design and atmosphere lacked local identity, failing to reflect the rich culture of Qatar, which is disappointing for visitors seeking an authentic experience. No Alcohol Policy: While understood culturally, the absence of wine or alcohol options in a luxury resort felt limiting, especially with premium dining. Missed Opportunities: The resort aims to cater to everyone but fails to deliver a focused and refined luxury experience for any specific group. Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara promises much but delivers little. While the setting and villas offer glimpses of luxury, poor design choices, disorganized management, and a lack of cultural authenticity left me underwhelmed. For a six-hour flight, I expected a destination that offered peace, elegance, and a reason to return - but unfortunately, this resort missed the mark entirely.
Unique Island Setting: The idea of staying on a private island is appealing, with the boat transfer creating a sense of exclusivity. Villa Interior: Inside, the villa showcases luxury, with well-appointed bathrooms and living spaces that reflect significant investment. Good Food: The quality of food, especially in the Italian restaurant, was impressive-flavorful and well-prepared, even if the experience was incomplete without wine (also, you can wait 1h for lunch..) Helpful Staff: While some staff lacked professionalism, there were moments of good service and genuine effort to assist guests.
