The lady housekeeper was good in google translate, that helped a lot. We had a large room with a window. Most rooms have no window or no view if there is a window. So take care. Bathroom is shared.

This new built house is in the heart of the Wutai tribe village. It is on the first floor and overlooks the valley. Beautiful view. Happily not the whole village as demolished and replaced by the standard Taiwanese concrete blocks so some slate houses remain. This should be a protected area in fact. As there are no snackbars or shops in the village you can cater yourselves cause there is a kitchen. Get your groceries in Sandyman at the beginning of the valley.

Set in a traditional slate house at the heart of the village. Warm welcome with an introduction to the local culture & craft. It was memorable despite the language barrier. Best to arrive early or to have dinner on the way.

    Taste of Rukai Tribe's life

Bathroom was Indian style bathroom, which is shower right next to toilet bowl. so after the shower the whole bathroom was all wet and we couldn't open the window to dry the room either. We understand it is local style, but in order to level up the comfortability of the stay, the bathroom situation has a room for improvement :)

The owner was away for our whole stay so I couldn't meet him but he arranged our dinner in the neighborhood restaurant and let us choose the room. The hotel was all decorated with Rukai aboriginal tribe which we really loved and could learn about it. Though I wish we could meet the ower so we could learn more about the town and the tribe, The stay was fun and my children enjoyed it too.

So unique and beautiful. The village of Wutai is outstandingly beautiful, this house is right next to the village square. The owner was very welcoming, polite, and kindly shared her Rukai culture with me. It was beautiful to watch the swallows in the afternoon and the mountain sunrise in the morning. It was a joy and an honour to stay here.

Room: When we arrived, it smelled like wet dog, definitely due to the bathroom. Bathroom: Not ventilated at all and it smelled quite bad. I’ve been in some bad bathrooms before and I can deal with it assuming it’s reasonable given the price, but to pay this much for the bathroom was absurd. Breakfast: Don’t be fooled by the included breakfast. First morning was a steamed bun with an egg, second morning we were told we could order breakfast at a nearby restaurant but we were still charged full price for the meal. Price: I genuinely can’t believe how much I was charged for this stay given the amenities: $150 USD a night!! Maybe if you call you can get a discounted price but honestly after arriving and the experience it felt like a complete rip off from start to finish. If you come, stay in 神山 just 15 minutes down the hill and call around to some places to find the best deal.

The building itself is quite beautiful and is well decorated. The proprietress was not there, her son was, and he kindly brought us up to the village where we could hike Jingbu Mountain. Dinner was included the first night and it was very tasty.
