Bergoase Panorama-Apartments offers a sauna and free private parking, and is within 13 km of Saxon Switzerland National Park and 14 km of Königstein Fortress. After arriving on the night train and riding up into the hills on hired mountain bikes to get here, we were able to check in early which was a blessed relief! (Note - The route that Google maps gave us on our bikes went off-road, and we had to walk part of the way uphill as it was too steep to ride the mountain trail, especially with our backpacks. You can also catch a local bus to the village to get here). The apartment was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. The kids spent most of their time outside roaming up the hiking paths or riding their bikes up and down the hilly streets in the quiet village. This accommodation is on the edge of the village near the top of a hill and the view is lovely out towards the forests and mountains. We came in early spring and the trees were just starting to green up so I can see it would be even more spectacular in late spring and through summer and autumn. There were probably a dozen or so campers at all stages of life using the grounds with their tents and vans, as well as others staying in apartments, and it was peaceful with a feeling of camaraderie, no loud voices or music, just people chilling and a few kids roaming around doing kid stuff. This village and accommodation was a big contrast to Bad Schandau, which was literally crawling with cars and tourists (we were there over the Easter long weekend), and we were so glad we had not stayed in town but on this calming and chill mountainside.

Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated Alte Bäckerei Königstein Aparthotel und Café provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi. The place is very cosy, comfortable and freshly-renovated, at the very center of Königstein, with a view of the Königstein fortress. I chose it mainly because it was pet-friendly, and we traveled with our cat who turned out to be their first feline guest. The staff was really helpful, and accommodated all our requests, even helped me order a surprise birthday cake for my husband. Thank you to Sylvia for bearing with all my questions and showing incredible hospitality!

Set in Bad Schandau and only 6.7 km from Saxon Switzerland National Park, Schloss Prossen offers accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. it was a very lovely apartment. exactly the same as from the picture, with the high ceilings it even felt bigger. the kitchen is really fully equipped and can perfect cook a nice meal. room is very well decorated. it has a lovely garden and whole experience is very good. If we visit the region again, i will choose to stay without doubt.

Offering river views, Fährmannhaus is an accommodation located in Bad Schandau, 11 km from Königstein Fortress and 11 km from Saxon Switzerland National Park. I stayed here with my 5 year old daughter and I really loved the nice playground right in front of our apartment. I also loved that it was right by the ferry so we could easily cross when we wanted.
