She recommended we eat at Friendly Restaurant and it was one of the best meals we’ve had on this trip. The view from the terrace is spectacular. Pictures don’t do it justice. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

What a beautiful city and the perfect place to stay to explore it. An elderly woman is who greets you upon arrival, she's very nice and gives you coffee/tea and homemade raki. She doesn't speak a word of english, which is why you text with her grandson, who's the official host. He's very communicative and responsive to messages. You do have to walk some stairs to get to the hotel but the view from the place is great, not quite over Berat but stunning nonetheless. The old town is just around the corner once you're at the foot of the hill, and the castle can be accessed via a hidden pathway behind the accommodation.
