Matraville Home Stay Tuk Tuk Lake Toba Samosir está en Tuk Tuk y tiene jardín. Hay terraza, wifi gratis y parking privado gratis. Our three-night stay at Matraville Homestay was a very welcome change-of-pace after jungle treks and volcano hikes in Bukit Lawang and Berestagi. Our unit was VERY large (it would have easily suited a family of four) and well-appointed with a TV, fridge, sink and kettle for use. It was also spread over two levels, with the downstairs serving as the entrance/living room area/kitchenette, and the bedroom and bathroom/separate shower area upstairs. BONUS(ES): the unit entrance featured a little patio with a table and chair where you could have an early-morning coffee or tea while facing the sunrise; the upstairs level also provided a small balcony area to take in the morning sun or evening dusk. While the room we chose was across the street from the water (a 90-second walk at most, down a couple of shallow flights of steps, and therefore didn’t provide a direct waterfront view), there are two rooms available in another portion of the property that face the water and are just steps from it. Our excellent Host, Dimmer, picked us up from the Tuk Tuk ferry landing (and can also drop you off when you depart) and will provide you with everything you might need to make your stay comfortable, including tips on places to eat or have coffee nearby and suggestions for what to do/see on Samosir Island. He will also provide scooters for daily/multi-day use for very reasonable rates.

The location, the host, the room, the balcony, everything. Walking distance to everything, on the main road but still quiet, love the quiet morning view from the balcony. They have a restaurant downstairs, good and affordable food. The best for the price.

Ruma Kaca Simanindo Bed&Breakfast está a 2,3 km de Playa Batu Hoda y ofrece alojamiento con restaurante, jardín, zona de playa privada y salón de uso común. Ruma Kaca was a real surprise! We were warmly welcomed by Tiolina (owner) and accompanied to our room and she explained everything. The room and the whole property are very lovingly decorated. The room is located in a former colonial house and has a great view of the lake. It's like staying in a living museum. The food (dinner and breakfast) was also delicious and very good. As there is also a café in Ruma Kaca, the coffee was wonderful. In her free time, Tiolina sat down at her sewing machine and sewed beautiful hair bands. Tiolina took us to Paromanang the next day and we visited the local market with her. Unfortunately, we didn't have any more time as we had to continue travelling.

I stayed at Juma Cottages by Lake Toba, and it was an unforgettable experience. The staff were all incredibly humble, welcoming, and accommodating, but Intan, the receptionist, truly stood out. She is such a warm and friendly person, always going the extra mile to ensure guests are comfortable. Intan was not only knowledgeable about the local area but also gave us excellent recommendations for things to do. One thing that really impressed me was her attention to detail—Juma Cottages doesn’t have universal charging sockets, but Intan personally went out of her way to purchase converters for guests. She lent them to us, which made our stay much more convenient. That’s the kind of service that made our time there so special. The cottages themselves are set in a stunning, scenic location, with a beautiful pool right next to Lake Toba. It’s so peaceful, with the soothing sound of birds chirping during the day. Honestly, it was hard to leave the cottage because it felt so tranquil and relaxing. The food at the cottage was delicious and reasonably priced, which was a nice bonus. As a small precaution, I’d recommend carrying mosquito repellent. While I personally didn’t experience many issues with mosquitoes during my stay, there were a few around, so it’s better to be prepared. Overall, Juma Cottages provided a truly memorable stay, and Intan’s exceptional service made it even better. Her warmth, helpfulness, and care for the guests really set the place apart. I highly recommend staying here!
