Excellent stay at the The Wayside and Whisky Barn, stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the comfort of the hotel and the location. Emiko and her staff look after you with excellent service, great food and are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about things to do and see. Lovely location next to the Black Combe that we climbed when the weather wasnt the best but still loved the adventure. Highly recommend staying here.

The Old Rectory is a splendid building with lots of original features. Our host, Anne, welcomed us warmly and provided a beautiful afternoon tea for us to enjoy in the afternoon sunshine. Our room was beautifully laid out with a welcoming carafe (small) of sherry. Bed was nice and comfy and had a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was scrumptious with Michael being diligent host. Shame we only stayed one night but will definitely be back.

Lovely staff, clean and comfortable. Annex was gorgeous and breakfast perfect - good quality and very well cooked. Barnie (temperamental Spitzoodle) was welcomed and loved his treats. Location is fabulous for exploring the western lakes combined with the coast, particularly good for people who like the quieter areas. Lovely walks direct from the door up to the fells and down to the costal path.

An incredible place to stay in every way. Beautiful space and Emiko is such a wonderful, knowledgeable host. Delicious breakfast each morning and a gorgeous evening meal one night. Oh and the whisky! Wow! I learned so much more about whisky from all our Emiko’s knowledge and thoroughly enjoy a glass…or more. The place has such a homely, warm feel. We would return in a heartbeat! Thank you so much, Emiko!
