Our stay at Guest House Takazuri-KITA was a highlight of our trip to Japan. The traditional house is beautifully preserved, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning nature — perfect for relaxing and experiencing the charm of Gokayama. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and the house itself was clean, spacious, and full of character. One of the best parts was renting electric bicycles directly from the property — super convenient and a great way to explore the area without hassle. Everything from the cozy tatami rooms to the quiet surroundings made our stay memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience rural Japan in comfort.

The breakfast was superb! We had dietary restrictions which the hotel enquired about before and the meal they provided was so memorable and good. The location is in a very quiet neighbourhood. The apartment itself was so beautifully designed and curated - we thoroughly loved what they did to make an old building look so modern and tasteful. The staff were very helpful as well, we had a wonderful check-in experience.

The absolute loveliest stay I’ve had in Japan. What a delight the hosts are - Glenda is an absolute gem and the loveliest. She used to tour around Japan as a singer! If you’re lucky enough, you can get her to sing a bit for you. Her husband is an incredibly talented chef and cooked us a huge and wonderful dinner - probably the best food I’ve had in Japan. Strong recommend!

Everything: from the very good smell right from the entrance to the quiet neighborhood, to the interior garden, to the details of the house. we stayed in the room overlooking the garden and it was beautiful to have time to admire the rain on the trees, the birds, the silence. It was like being inside a painting and I loved the two nights spent here. Super comfortable futon, everything clean, I also loved the body soap, it left my skin super soft! What's more, I found kindness and great hospitality, nothing to say. If I ever go back to Kanazawa I would definitely want to come back here. I left a little piece of my heart there.

Great place to stay. The room was clean and comfy with traditional tatami flooring and a futon. Tried the breakfast once, it was tasty and only 300 yen. The coin washing machine and dryer were handy. The owners are very friendly. Also quite close to the Higashi Chaya teahouse district and a walking distance from the city centre. There was also a bus stop nearby.
