We arrived late in the afternoon with blowing snow and cold. We woke up to a sunny day with a fantastic view of Mt. Kirkjufell through our windows. The village of Grundarfjordur is small but lovely. Cleanliness and comfort were features of the property; the kitchen was well equipped.

To see also the waterfall nearby Grundarfoss, very impressive! And if you want to drink a nice cup of coffee I suggest you Valeria in the small village a few min away by car.

This family run guesthouse sits scenically on the Snæfellsnes peninsula on Iceland’s western coast, and features views of the surrounding nature from all rooms, as well as free Wi-Fi. This place is absolutely fabulous. We unfortunately had terrible weather when we arrived here, and were even stuck there for an extra day. We had to rebook an extra day and the staff was absolutely welcoming. Our addition day was arranged and they also helped us plan the next stretch of our drive because of the weather conditions. We were a big fan of the breakfast here: just amazing! On the second day, we also tried their elaborate dinner, which was no short of a WOW. My wife and the rest of the family who joined us are vegetarians and they too had plenty of admirable options. So all in all: we enjoyed the stay a lot! Had the weather been a bit supportive, we would have had enjoyed even more…
