Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). We spent two nights on the island, and it was absolutely amazing! In the evenings, after all the tourists have left, you can take a peaceful walk near the water and feel like you have the entire island to yourself. The guest house we stayed at was fantastic! Traveling with our 5-month-old, we felt incredibly welcomed. Our room was huge, especially compared to other accommodations in Japan, and the common area downstairs was spacious and inviting. They offered a mini buffet for both breakfast and dinner, which was just perfect for us. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back. The guest house is conveniently located halfway between the ferry terminal and the gondola. In the morning, we enjoyed a lovely walk through the park to the gondola and managed to beat the crowds. Highly recommend! They also has two onsen options which you essentially book just for your family.

Set in Onomichi, 25 km from Oogamiyama Omoto Shrine, BONAPOOL offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. We stayed one night during our 2-day biking tour on Shimanami Kaido. Location was perfect: close to some good restaurants and basically on the bike route. We stayed in a mixed dorm, which was very clean and well-organised. Common shower rooms were very clean. The luggage transfer to our next stop (which was the bike rental in Imabari) worked perfectly.

Staying in a 100+ year old traditional Japanese home was an amazing experience, and the fact that we had the whole house to yourself made it even better. In addition, the host was so kind and helpful and really went out of his way to make our stay memorable. He gave us great recommendations for dinner and helped us make reservations. The room was very spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and every amenity you could possible need was provided.

1 km from Oogamiyama Omoto Shrine, ゲストハウス尾道ポポー Guesthouse Onomichi Pawpaw is located in Onomichi and provides air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi. The staff were exceptionally sweet and beyond helpful. Made my day that much better than it could be. Really appreciate their help and the atmosphere that they have cultivated at Pawpaw.

Clean and comfortable, excellent location and nice kitchen area with beautiful views over the sea. The owner was very kind and friendly and has excellent local knowledge!

Offering sea views, Onomichi Guest House Miharashi-tei is an accommodation set in Onomichi, 70 metres from Senkoji Temple and 700 metres from Onomichi History Museum. The guest house is located on a hill and has a beautiful view over the city. It is indeed quite steep to get there and you'll be sweating upon arrival, but it is definitely worth it. The staff is extremely helpful and he speaks English perfectly. Of course, the futon is not as comfortable as a normal bed, but it is about the experience. I would definitely go there again.
