The locals in Guadeloupe were wonderfully friendly and so accommodating - we had absolutely no negative experiences at all (although my French was challenged at times!). The location was good - about a 25-minute walk from the nearest beach (see photo) and the marina (see photo). It was a 5-10 minute walk from the boulangerie and supermarket (Carrefour).
