Wow! what a location; it’s an adventure gettimg there…but absolutely worth it. Solo traveler; the Masaya team does a great job w activities, chill music, places to be solo and place to be w others, communal later dinners, and just very cheerful folks who take care of the lodge, the food, and the folks to a recognizable degree. We were only supposed to stay one night, ended up staying longer, and then came back here like to our family. It is home away from home in Santa Marta. The staff are wonderful. The places are people, and this place is special because of the people who treat you like a family member from the very beginning. They give you a smile, help, advice, care and delicious breakfasts and dinners (every day something new prepared by the lovely, always smiling Natalie). We said we work remotely, so they offered us the chance to work on the terrace upstairs or in the common area, finally they gave us room with the desk, but we actually worked really well in the common area, especially because of the great atmosphere. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hostel itself is in a great location – close to the beach, but also to the place where buses to Tayrona and Minca leave, and close to the bus stop where local buses to the airport leave. I hope that one day we will come back here, and Justin – the owner – will realise his beautiful plans. The world needs people like him. Sana Mar is a wonderful place, and we support this project with all our hearts 🥰

Dont let the hike up, scare you. It's possible to walk up/ down or you can take a moto taxi. It’s just part of the experience! And the views are so worth it! The hostel is very clean, spacious and has amazing sunsets. They are so kind and speak fluent spanish and english. In the morning you can get a delicious breakfast for a day full a walks to beautiful waterfalls nearby. And in the evening you can also enjoy a great meal at their restaurant, so after the sunset you don't need to hike down to Minca. Thank you for the amazing experience!

Location, staff, the wooden house, the dorms, the excellent food and joint meals (also vegetarian alternative): everything of highest standard. Valentin and his team (including the two dogs) are wonderful and the place is in the middle of nature/wildlife: hikes are varied and you can watch/hear many birds and see beautiful sunsets. The 40 minute ride by mototaxi to the hostel is great, a little adventure included. I will definitely come back, but then stay longer!

This hostel was the best thing in all Santa Marta! Room had an ac, a life saver in this hot climate! Room looked a bit bigger in the picture, but since it has an upper floor it felt really spacious and a lot of natural light coming in, also possible to open the window. Nice to have 2 choices for breakfast. Friendly staff. Good location near restaurants and bus stop (taganga, tayrona, minca). It's not one of the cheapest ones in the town but I think it's worth of the money.

This was an absolute surprise and perfect from start to finish. The family hosting this place is so loving and the place and the location just breathtaking! I started by reserving a room and then ended up sleeping on the last floor on just a mattress - so basic but the nature there is just incredible. steady waves and a bit of wind make it the perfect ambiance to sleep outside. No noise at all for cars as the place is located directly in front of the beach. I highly recommend you go there !
