Guesthouse Grønnegade is a tiny guesthouse with only two rooms in historical buildings from around 1890. The buildings used to be a bakery, a bakery shop and home for the baker, his family and the bakers' assistants. There are still cobbled stones with wear marks from horse carriages.
This is also why there are some very steep, old and narrow stairs to the Room with Garden View, since this room is situated in a loft over the old bakery adjecent to the main building. The Room with Garden View is not suitable for people with mobility issues or who are uncomfortable with steep and narrow stairs.
Then, the Room with Garden View has more privacy as it is situated in an adjacent building. This room is only open for rent from June to August, because you have to walk from one building to another to reach the shared bathroom and kitchen. These are also the reasons why The Room with Garden View is cheaper.
The Room with Seaview is a modernised room in the main house, well heated and open for rent all year. It has a new double bed (140x200 cm), a sofa bed, dining table, and view of the strait.
Next to the Room with Seaview are the shared bathroom and kitchen with hotplates, microwave, refrigerator and complementary coffee, tea, oil, spices, flour and sugar.
There is a courtyard and a fairly wild garden with old trees and pavilions. You are welcome to use the garden and courtyard.
During the peak season in June, July and August you may have to share the bathroom and kitchen with guests from the other room.
I, your host Lotte, live in my own part of the house, and you may meet me. I sometimes pass by your kitchen on my way to the garden, but I do, of course, respect your privacy.
If you have any problem during your stay, please reach out immediately so we may find a solution.
I work part-time as a coordinator of selfhelp groups, part-time in my own company with communication, social work and as a yoga teacher.
I have been travelling a lot and working abroad for many years. I love hanging out with friends and spend my spare time in my garden.
I am aware that travelling may involve discomforts due to the weather or unexpected events. More than anything I wish that you will have a peaceful rest at my place.
So please reach out immediately if you experience any problems. I will do my utmost to solve the problem if it is in any way within my capacity.
Guesthouse Grønnegade is situated in the old part of beautiful Stubbekøbing dating back to the middle ages with its harbour at the strait of Grønsund.
The harbour with the veteran ferry to Bogø is just a few minutes walk away. So are the town square and the church from the middle ages.
Nearby (Stubbekøbing is tiny, so basically everything is nearby) is a lovely little Thai restaurant called Spice and Rice open Tuesday - Sunday until 20:00, a lunch cafeteria, a couple of cafes, for example Cafe Pastel in the main street, fastfood restaurants and a wine and delicacy store in the harbour area.
Beware, that opening hours vary from day to day.
There are also two supermarkets and a petrol station in Stubbekøbing where you may buy whatever you need, including freshly baked bread. At the harbour in Bogø there is a great bakery, which is open Wednesday - Sunday from 8:00.
Please ask if you need any advice or help.
