Michele is a talented interior designer who decided to move to Marrakech to give free reign to her love of Islamic art, architecture & design. Grant gave up his partnership at a London law firm to join her on a great adventure. Together they have created a calm & beautiful haven at the core of the wonderful, colourful mayhem that is Marrakech. Michele make beautiful contemporary Moroccan-inspired clothes & jewellery too!

Michele & Grant are experienced British hoteliers who have lived in Morocco for over 10 years. With their personal expertise & support, Riad Assakina serves as a perfect base, located at the very heart of the Medina, from which to explore and then be well and truly looked after at the end of a busy day’s adventures!

The Old Jewish quarter (or "Mellah") is one of the oldest parts of the city; and, as such, is a perfect location from which to explore the sites from antiquity which abound in the area. Riad Assakina is situated immediately next to the Bahia Palace - the biggest tourist site in the Medina - and also within 5 minutes walk are the amazing Badii Palace; the Dar Si Said museum; and the main gold & spice souks for the city. There is a great local bar, too. The main tourist square (Jemaa El Fna is just a 10 minute level walk away). Riad Assakina also benefits from having vehicular access at just 20 metres from its door (important when first arriving and finding your feet). This also means that taxi trips to fine dining restaurants, golf courses, the Atlas mountains & beyond are all quick & easy.
