Company information

Sol Bungalows is a new, family-owned overwater bungalow B&B on the Sunset Coast of Isla Solarte. We started our B&B out of a love for Bocas del Toro and a desire to show the islands to the world! Everything was carefully planned and chosen for our business. The location was selected to put our guests within easy distance of all the main Bocas attractions. The bungalows were thoughtfully designed to include all of the top amenities that overwater bungalows are desired for. Our respect for the local environment and people helped guide us to create a place that is sustainable and empowering for our community. Some highlights of our business are that we are solar-powered, we catch all of our water from the rain, and our workers come directly from our small island community. Your hosts, Drew (USA) and Tamara (Swiss), have lived in Bocas del Toro since 2015 and have both worked as guides. Drew worked for a non-profit, and Tamara worked for one of the most exclusive hotels in the world. Together, we combine our experiences and knowledge of the archipelago to give you the best possible Bocas experience!

We are a small (just 4 bungalows), family-owned, Eco B&B located on Isla Solarte, just a few minutes by water taxi from Bocas Town. Our bungalows are fully off-grid, meaning we are solar-powered and we catch all of our water from the rain! We love the location of our bungalows, which was specifically chosen to put our guests at just a 5 minute water taxi ride to all of the best Bocas del Toro attractions. ► Some highlights of our neighborhood include: ✓ 5 Minutes to Bocas Town (Dining, Shopping, Nightlife, Tours) ✓ 5 Minutes to Surf (Carenero Point, Black Rock, Bibi's Break) ✓ 5 Minutes to Hospital Point for snorkeling ✓ Direct sunset views every evening ✓ Direct views of the mountains of mainland Panama ✓ Jungle trail access through Isla Solarte ✓ 5 Minutes to Isla Carenero and Isla Bastimentos ✓ 5 Minutes to destination restaurants at The Blue Coconut, The Floating Bar, Bibi's on the Beach, Alvin & Kecha's Isla Solarte is the least populated and most natural of the 5 main Bocas Islands. The interior of the island is covered in thick rainforest and the coast is rimmed with mangroves and coral reefs. There is a small indigenous village on the island that is comprised of the Ngäbe indigenous tribe. They have a small Catholic school, a church, and a sports field. A common sight from your bungalow is a local fisherman paddling by in a dugout canoe! This is real culture and authentic Bocas del Toro!
