Situated in Waiouru, 45 km from Turoa, Roadside Motel features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The inn has family rooms. Beds are warm and comfortable each bed is fitted with electric blankets, there is a microwave bar fridge, toaster, electric stove top and oven, pots pans and utensils for cooking, wall heater is enough to keep living and sleeping area cosy and fan heater is perfect for the kitchen which also heats the bathroom. Each room has a shower and toilet which is something I need for two young children. Tv with a freeview box I'd recommend bringing your own Chromecast or Amazon stick for movies if you're staying for a couple of days or more. This motel is my go-to for affordable accommodation in waiouru it has everything we need as a family it has a laundromat (cash only) next door down the long driveway, across the road from the takeaways which is handy, subway on the right and Z gas station on the left which is 24hours. Cherie is a wonderful host and we always love staying at the roadside motel.

Set in National Park, 16 km from Mount Ruapehu, National Park Alpine Lodge offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The shower room and toilet were spotty clean. The dining room looked cozy.

Boasting a garden, The Mountain View Studio is situated in Rangataua in the Manawatu region, 22 km from Turoa. All rooms in the inn are fitted with a kettle. A cozy and charming place. Everything was great, but window screens would really help – we wanted to let some fresh air in, but there were so many bugs outside that it felt a bit risky! Other than that, everything was fantastic – the shower and water pressure were absolutely top-notch.
