The Commodores Lodge is very central in Russell with bars and restaurants nearby. We were very impressed with the room and the facilities, the room was very clean with good facilities. There are picnic tables reserved for Lodge residents just above the beach with a fabulous view. We enjoyed eating a picnic dinner out there one evening. Simply fabulous. While there is a pool we didn't use it as the Lodge is only a few steps away from the beach and preferred to swim in the sea. We did warm up in the spa pool after one swim which was very nice. Peter and Greg know the area well and gave us great recommendations of places to visit. Peter’s breakfasts were superb! The lodge is a two storey beautiful character home with wonderful views of a harbour. It’s a short easy walk into Russell. The breakfast provided was gourmet and plentiful, beautifully cooked by Peter and presented by Greg. They offered helpful information about the area including great eating out options and excursions.
